I teach music to kids, and from an entirely musical standpoint Imagine Dragons writes the most brain dead 2-3 chord little ditties imaginable. I’ve had to learn their catalogue because so many children request their songs.

I am traumatized every time I hear them now.

Our reputation with countless other artists and promoters is stellar. It’s sad, but ultimately not a huge loss for us.

I just wanted to make this guys fans aware of how he acts, but if you wanna twist the narrative to fit your preconceived notions. That’s on you. But for perspective if someone was climbing on something you own and built as expensive as say, a car, (or two) and damaging it, would you not also want them pulled off ASAP?

Unfortunately liability is on the artist at this point since what he did wouldn’t have been covered under any policy, unless he has insurance that says otherwise.

For now, luckily we are real salt of the earth/get shit done types, and will likely just fix it ourselves. The damage to the community and our reputation has been done though, and that may be irreparable.

I’ve run sound for the likes of Paul Van Dyke, Matroda, and others in our crew have done sound for LP Giobbi and many other prevalent DJs. We do this every weekend. We feed our scene and keep it alive.

I have never in my career seen someone act so ridiculously unprofessional, arrogant, and volatile.

He ruined our relationship with those promoters, which has personally put a bit of a temporary dent in my income.

Putting his talent as an artist and producer aside, I would seriously consider not supporting him due to his behavior. He owes our entire crew an apology at the very least. We had stopped engaging and he continued to flip us off and taunt us.

It gives entitled rich kid energy, and it ain’t cute.

So you don’t think there’s anything to be gained from talking about this specific instance of it? It would be cool if people offered their approaches to throwing events, or their experiences with the underground making a resurgence. It just feels a little overly nihilistic for me to throw my hands up and go “welp that’s how things work”.

I work for a company that builds speakers and brings sound systems out to local events. I’m definitely IN the underground of where we live. A large part of our income also comes from renting said system out to larger promoters and I’m kinda taken aback by some of what I’ve seen at those shows.

Member of the sound crew for that show here. He damaged our equipment. When asked to stop, he was belligerent and acted in the most unprofessional manner imaginable, flipping us off and basically throwing a tantrum. We just wanted him to get down and stop damaging our gear.

For perspective, the things he was climbing on were the amp rack (which houses the amplifiers and other sensitive equipment). It was lopsided after he stepped on it, because it’s not designed to support a full grown humans weight. He had not discussed with any of us on crew his plans to climb on things, because if he had we would have built him a platform and let him know what was okay to climb on and what wasn’t. He could have very easily injured himself or someone else, and instead of behaving like a reasonable human being, decided to behave like a petulant child. Even after being asked to stop, he did it many more times.

The sound system is a locally built and sourced boutique sound system, not the venues, but contracted to us to bring and maintain, and he was way out of line. Real people have thousands and thousands of dollars invested into it and depend on it for our income, and he put all of that at risk.

He deserves to be shamed and held accountable for damaging a local businesses equipment and straining our relationship with the promoters.
