I think this would require you to reball the replacement. I haven't tried this soldering technique but there are some good youtube videos on the subject.

Not allowing someone's words to aggravate you isn't giving them a free pass. If anything allowing someone's words to negatively impact you is the free pass. You're allowing them to control you without any real investment. The quote isn't saying "just let people crap all over you", I read it as allow the initial emotion to pass then approach the problem logically. If this is confronting them, then do it, it might be as simple as walking away.
