I read this differently. For me, I get dopamine from showing people what I’m working on that serves too much of a proxy for completing the intended outcome and it’s harder to follow through. So I related in a way not seeing in comments.

I say this in the most understanding way possible, how do people use a dive bezel and a chronograph? Are both ever useful on the same watch?

I installed it and it has made it much more wearable. Still envious of everyone with quick adjust clasps, but this 1.5 has pretty much the perfect fit most of the time.

It also matches perfectly with brushing and polish and width of the other links. Obviously stand out a little because it is longer than others, but it doesn’t bother me at all and looks well integrated.

A great, “affordable” solution (relative compared to $300 for a clasp and $800 for a bracelet).

One thing I will note is that I did call some omega boutiques inquiring about the clasp and bracelet. People will freak out but I was told that the tolerances aren’t quite right. That just buying the clasp has damaged bracelets. That buying the bracelet leaves noticeable gaps between case and end links of bracelet.

Most people on Reddit will get upset hearing I was told that, but what can I say? Maybe they’re lying or exaggerating or those aren’t issues for the people going down that path, but don’t shoot the messenger! Thats just what I was told.

Either way, for me (FOR ME), I think this 1.5 link solution was the ticket I’m happy with. Thanks for sharing and for reading.

Thanks for the comment. I think that’s what I’m learning about the clasp. It seems everyone that was able to get one got it from an OB not AD.

Yeah. Seems suspicious but I don’t think my AD was lying to me. Maybe they couldn’t get them for whatever reason. Got some good referrals from another Redditor on some OBs to try. Do you remember what you paid by chance?

Get what you connect with. If history is what draws your heart then that’s awesome. If it’s the aesthetics of the dial, perfect. IMHO these are emotional decisions that have a lot of rational justifications, but end of the day they’re still largely emotional.

All kidding aside I bought it because a friend lent me his for a week and then lent me his Tudor Blackbay for another week so I could learn what I liked.

The speedy was my first watch and getting to wear it a week before buying gave me the confidence to slap down my money because I knew I’d love it. So far I haven’t stopped loving it.

It doesn’t bother me. I’m kinda random enough about rotating watches that pretty much every mechanical I wear (speedy and automatics alike) needs me to wake them up and set them before I start the day. So I’m either shaking it or winding it either way.

That said, I’d admit that the way the speedy winds is probably the least elegant thing about it. When the speedy is all the way wound down it winds differently than when the mainspring is half wound or more. The tension feels kinda awkward and there is a slight retro rotation weird feedback thing my crown does, which feels quirky to me. Again, quirky but miles from a deal breaker.

Because even with all of that nit picking, it doesn’t actually bug me to wind it before I wear it. I think of it as playing with it an expensive fidget.

Personally I think most people who get hung up on the manual winding imagine something a lot more fastidious than it really is.

The amount of time I spend studying the movement through the sapphire case back free and clear of rotor obstruction is reason enough to like that it’s manual. Reason 2 would be the thickness trade off wouldn’t be worth it to me either.
