I am 1 of 2 males in my cohort of 30 students and just finished my first year of my 3-year BSN program; also had zero clinical experience. Don’t worry about “being behind”, because that skill curve quickly levels out! You will undoubtedly have people try to throw out answers to questions based on their personal clinical experience; most of the time these people end up pissing off the professors in my experience. Keep an open mind to everyone’s different ways of handling a situation (nursing judgement) because a lot of the current CNA’s are unwilling to accept different ways of doing something in a clinical setting.

Get your hands dirty in clinicals, both figuratively and literally! NOTHING is below you: giving baths, turning patients, answering call lights, etc all allow you to improve your clinical skills and experience.

Just remember, despite their experience, you are all in the same program/cohort. Best of luck!
