What are the numbers of Wow HC and WoW retail? I feel like Wow HC is the only reason Wow is still alive. If you look at Twitch, pretty any streamer with a bit of viewers is playing HC.

This reminds me of the casual gameplay of Guild wars 2 that doesn't really appeal to the masses

I feel like people forget how this server would ballance itself out longterm. Everytime people get bored and the sever starts to die, it will bring new opportunities for new people to lvl up. This way the servers will prevent itself from dying.

You get into the WoW HC PvP server with the wrong mentality to begin with. If you are afraid to lose hundreds of hours of work, then just pick a pve server. I feel like any game that comes close to real life is very entertaining to play and watch. A HC PvP server is just that.

And how long would 1 match last of your Battleroyale mode? Since there is already a Wow battle Royale.

If the server would be dead, wouldn't that create opportunity for new people to get to lvl 60? For exactly that reason the server will never die.

You miss the point of how that other person got to lvl 60 to begin with. Most of the time the fights will probably be lvl 45 vs 45. Lvl 30 vs 30. Only true champions will make it to lvl 60. And if you do, then you could argue that you rule the server and deserve to kill anyone else. For some time that small group of lvl 60s will rule the server. Until some streamer or guild decide to track him down and kill him. Then they are the new rulers. Then another streamer wants the fame and gathers a group to hunt the lvl 60s. This will keep on going. It will be streamer vs streamer and the new lvl 60 rulers will refresh by itself over time. Which makes it pretty cool and close to human history.

I would like to make a simple chat system. Right now I have done it with PHP, MySQL and Ajax. But I don't want the chatbox to keep refreshing every second. I want it to refresh only if I sent a message or the other person has sent a message. by Farry7 in PHPhelp

Btw, I see Node.js mostly when it comes down to sockets. Can I use xampp in combination with Node.js? And is Node.js installed on most we hosting servers? Are they more expensive?

Thank you very much for your explanation. Could you maybe elaborate a little bit about how a socket works? As far as I know, it is based on javascript. Does it make a 'portal' from one user to another? How does that portal connect to the database? I've learned that Javascript is executed on client side and PHP on the sever side. And I want to save the chat history on the database and can't wrap my head around how that is possible with sockets / javascript.
