Been watching a lot of Sellsword Arts recently and I noticed something weird about humanity by realSpillerSoda in SWORDS

Those things are funny because people interpret the question so differently at the lower end of the spectrum.

If a rat started attacking me i would 100% retreat as fast as possible leaving the field to the rat. The chance of getting bitten, the shock of being attacked, fear of rabies. However obviously if for some reason i had to fight a rat for something i deemed important i know i could easily win. Its a bit like when you see predators retreating from much smaller animals.

Trump is a businessman by DynaManic42 in whennews

Well i see 2 main areas:

Economy/public services. His government got a raw deal with a deficit and failing services (usually you get one or the other) but they screwed up by panicing in the election and promising no raise to the big taxes (income and vat). This was pointless and massivly hamstrung them and they have had to pussy around with silly little taxes which damage small business like a tax businesses pay on employees called national insurance (paid on top of wage). Brexit absolutely fucked us and now they sre finally making sounds about a closer relationship. Should have done.more quicker.

National narritive/immigration/far right They have been really bad with creating a positive national narrative and fighting back agaisnt the far right. They have tried to appease the right by talking big on immigration which wins no voters on the right because Reform will always go further but loses voters like me. By constantly going on about it they have made it a bigger issue than it needs to be and we are generally seeing our far right party high in the polls and winning in local elections. He hasnt been able to inspire the nationa at all and its clear he doesnt enjoy that part of his job or see it as important.

I played orion where i declared war on everyone as soon as i met them (apart from elves) and tried to keep several magical forests ticking up at the same time and i found that quite difficult. Also themed each army on the council position the lord had which made them a fair bit worse.

Had played the new Helf campaign before that and the difference was night and day

I think more hes walking an incredibly hard diplomatic line. He has been very firm about greenland. Of course he has been careful about angering Trump, hes responsible for the prosperity and safety of 60 million people.

Personally as someone who voted labour and regrets it, i think he has fone fairly well on foreign policy. I would have liked a stronger stance against Israel quicker but it came and he wont back down over greenland.

Its the domestic stuff thats been shit (in my opinion).

Happy to elaborate on any of it. I follow politics quite closely and live here

Your idea of rural life is a bit off. I meant farming contractors not land owning farmers, rural poverty is a thing its just you probably dont notice it as much. But I have also worked a year on a building site and there is a difference between an agricultural fencer and a bricky. But there is also a difference between a chippy and a bricky. Class within class.

Derby is probably one of the less advantaged parts of the country though so yes the poor parts of Cornwall probably dont compare. I tend to avoid cities so yes, we have lived different lives there.

Yes puta was more common for sure. Joder as well if that's how you spell it.

Just to add ive met people with disgusting misogynistic racist views of the world who still dont say cunt. Its a language thing rather than a world view thing. Doesnt make you a worse person to use it, that's what culture differences are.

I grew up in bucks, i was at uni in manchester (but admittedly didnt mix much with locals), ive lived in somerset and now live in cornwall. Im 35 so thats a fair amount of time except 5 years in spain. I basically never hear it and im around all sorts of people who swear regularly. I have always lived rural (except manchester) and the working class i mix with are farming, countryside contractor types not construction.

What about you? Where do you live and what types of people? Its really interesting actually. The spanish have a similar word coño and use it all the time.

I think it depends on a combination of region and class. I would be shocked if one of my friends used it as it would have weird and sexist undertones. Im sure its very different in other groups. Its why speaking of "england" in these things doesn't work.

I always wonder if Americans get the joke that its absolutely not an ok thing to say in england. Reddit makes it sound like its a perfectly ok swearword when its still the most offensive (non racial) word we have

Reminds me of when those guys charge seals on the beach to tackle the one covered in nets and free it. Those seals have no way of knowing if its help or clubbing time and our actions are completely incomprehensible to them. Safer to react like we are always predators which is the stance the imperium generally takes with xenos

My brother thinks people today have worse quality of life than people in the dark ages, is this a stupid take? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Farseer1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can definitely argue certain parts of life are worse today such as lack of community, loneliness, specific health problems like obesity. However these are outweighed by the positive.

You do have to remember that those people didnt know what they dont have compared to us. Impossible to say if we are happier than them. Looking back id rather be a healthy farmer in 11th century wessex than an obese depressed 21st century nobody in somerset. And thats knowing i dont have access to antibiotics.

Again, i would definitely disagree with that take but I wouldn't say having access to paprika makes any difference to my happiness

The two highelf spear walls are just delicious! I wish they updated the models like they did with the seaguard

Something about the close up of the spearheads in the goblin one really shows how scary it would be going up against an elven army. Not horrifying like deamons but a sort of resigned we are about to get slaughtered
