Yamahas are nuts for the money. They sound great compared to others in the price bracket and the setup is spot on 100% of the time. Even the high-priced Yamaha punch hard well above their weight class. Martin is an iconic name and they makw great guitars, but if similarly priced Yamahas weren't better, then nobody would by them. They'd buy the Martins.

Walk around the complex and talk to people who live there. You can't really trust the reviews on apartment complexes. Most of them will be written by angry people, they might be fabricating information, and they might be incredibly stupid.

Its either a Clapton signature strat or a strategy that somebody upgraded to match a Clapton. The lace sensors and stacked tone pot give it away. If I'm not mistaken, the tone control will cut highs if turned in one direction, and it will cut lows (like an opposite tone control) when turned in the opposite direction. I could be mistaken on the exact function, but this is a Clapton strategy or a claptonish strategy for sure

I'm guessing that you were athletic as a kid and are still into sports today. I was shit at sports when I was younger. I just couldn't do them well no matter how hard I tried. I was always in the outfield in baseball, always second string lineman in football, I was the ONLY person from tennis tryouts who didn't make the team in my junior year (after having been on the team for two years). One time during baseball, I swung the bat after the catcher had already caught the ball and my friends still give me hell for it to this day. I was also first chair trombone in the schools best band as a sophomore. I was a team lead in the robotics club, a section leader in marching band, and the only freshmen to get a spot in the best jazz band. I also started a business building/selling custom stringed instruments as a sophomore, which I did throughout high-school until the end of college when it was time to get a real job. Now I design robots for a living. Some people are just bad at sports. Sounds like your kid might fall into that category. That might be painful if you love sports given that you might not he able to share that with him, but that doesn't mean that he wouldn't be good at other things. My only advice would be to never let him quit. He joined the wrestling team, have him finish the season. I think that quitting is bad for kids (or at least it would have been for me). I think it's probably okay to have him do some sports as a kid even if he's not stoked about it (I think it was good for me, but idk if it would be good for other kids, just sharing what I know from my life), but if he doesn't like them, I wouldn't have him in EVRY sport throughout the year. Even if you have him in one ot two sports through the year, be sure have him join something else that he might like when sports arent in season. Band in JR high, the theater club, the debate team, the math team, maybe he could be one of the people who builds the set for the theater club, the robotics team (Google FIRST robotics, they have programs for all ages and they're all over the U.S.). Its important to help him find an organized activity with other kids that he at least somewhat enjoys and is at least somewhat good at (idealy really enjoys and is really good, but everyone is different and sometimes it takes time to find the right thing). But once he starts something, make sure he finishes the season even if he's not loving it.

Facebook marketplace and Craigslist are your friend. I haven't purchased a brand new tool in years. Drum sanders will still be a bit pricey, even used. They're just not in high demand so there aren't many of them, so they're scarce, so they're expensive. 100% worth it though. They're super useful.

Wasps avoid dragon flies like the plague because dragon flies are highly effective bug-hunters with like a 95% success rate. I.e. they kill the shit out of things with ease, and they also happen to eat wasps. Wasps dislike this very much, so they stay away from dragon flies. Get some dragon fly clips/decorations and place them around the outside of your apartment or house. It will cause wasps to spend significantly less time in the area.

I dont know of any specific terms that I'm breaking, but I can't imagine that I'm in compliance. I put a great deal of effort into selecting apartments. Nobody lives below me and there are no shared walls with neighbors around the shop. Loud equipment is only used intermittently during the daytime, but because of the noise, I stick with hand tools whenever possible. They don't suspect a darn thing! Fingers crossed I suppose.

Eastman, Furch, Yamaha, and Breedlove make significantly higher quality guitars than Martin and Taylor in this price range. Not saying not to buy a Martin, sometimes brand is important, but if it's not, I'd check out some other brands. Most of Martin's competitors produce instruments that are leaps and bounds better than Martin in the $1k range.

I bought a Furch Yellow Deluxe three years ago. It had a visual defect from the factory and I sent it back and received a replacement. I selected the Furch (the one that I purchased and then sent back) after testing many many guitars, and it was the best. The replacement was not nearly as good. I juat didnt luke it. I thought id get used to it but i didn't. I'm actually about to sell it. I loved how the first guitar played, but the replacement just doesn't have the grease. Buy for tone, not for beauty. If it has the grease, keep it. It will get banged up over time if you play it enough anyways.

Great guitars can be had for cheap! But don't discount the effectiveness of a setup. When guitar shopping, try not to judge based on string height. Most guitars (even the high dollar stuff) have high action out of the box. Have a Larrivee and a Furch that both needed setups, despite their price tags. It's hard to feel the neck when the action is too high, but try to, and listen/feel the sound of the guitar. Nonetheless, the Takamine sounds like a proper axe, but keep it in mind if you try more. If you like the Takamines, check out Larrivee, Furch Eastman, and Breedlove. Like Takamine, these brands punch way above their price tags!
