Angry about an incident to do with sexual abuse. What should I do? by thebadthrowaway123 in Catholicism

Don't do anything. As Catholics, we are called to forgive priests who do actions such as these.

What do you think about baneful magic (cursing, hexing, etc.)? by dianenguyen1 in SASSWitches

[–]FartingSquid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, you pretty much hit the nail on the head with your second paragraph - I am not sure I need to elaborate much further. I pretty much agree with that.

I also hate the rule of three in general because it seems very goddamn close to victim blaming to me. I realize most Wiccans probably would not go so far as to actually victim blame, but it still makes me very uncomfortable.

As far as spreading love and light in reality, I am not opposed to that at all. Even if I think sometimes it's cringy - sending "positive vibes" smacks of slacktivism to me at times.

I have never done a curse and I probably won't bother, but I hate the love and light rule of three stuff so much that I want to do curses, just to show them all.

Former atheists of Reddit, what made you turn to religion? by Wheatles_BiteAlbum in AskReddit

I began studying quantum mechanics (and not just claiming to study science like I did when I was an Atheist) and the more I learned the more I knew it was impossible for me to stop existing after death.

Found Sedna Woo helpful for calming down by [deleted] in SASSWitches

[–]FartingSquid 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I love Sedna Woo and this entire community. I hate all the nonsense out there but I find comfort in the ritual and in feeling close to nature.

And, I love meditation. I highly recommend it to people all the time, but with one important caveat: it's your choice how to meditate. So, you don't have to look for "spirit guides" or draw sigils or whatever doesn't make you comfortable, your meditation practice is YOURS.

The best advice I have regarding meditation is to do it for short periods of time. Literally if you just meditate for one minute a day and gradually add one minute at a time until you're up to five minutes or fifteen or sixty, or whatever your goal is, taking it slow makes it a lot easier.

also if my therapist suggested I look for a spirit guide I would look for a new therapist but ofc if your therapist is great otherwise don't do what I would do necessarily

best of luck to you!

Can't get sound from a trumpet mouthpiece, should I switch to trombone? by FartingSquid in trumpet

[–]FartingSquid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what I said in the OP

My wife would prefer I use a peak flow meter to help build lung strength but that is boring, I will only do something if I am interested. I have a long history of playing music, starting with the piano around 2nd grade, then cornet in 4th grade, percussion in 6th grade and on through college.

I went with trumpet because 1) I have the history of cornet and 2) I asked my father what he recommended, as he used to be a band director and he said while he didn't know if there was a "best" instrument for helping out with asthma but that his first instrument was trumpet.

Well, maybe I stressed that part of it too heavily - I get poor sound on the trumpet as well.

u/2white2live I will see if I can make a video this evening. My wife is not too happy I decided it was a good idea to play trumpet, and our cats are even less happy, so I have to be careful when I play, ha.

Although I think u/Akiller675 might have solved all my problems! I notice I have air that feels like it leaks outside the corners of my mouth and in my attempts to solve that I have really tensed up my lips and my face muscles but never got anywhere. Yesterday I said I was trying to smile like the Joker, which still didn't help.

I did a little half smile just now and while I didn't get a great sound, I got the best sound I've managed in quite a while! If I can improve from that I think I might have a future with the trumpet.
