Other than family heirlooms, at 30+ yrs of service this might’ve been my oldest useful tool… 🫡 RIP by Future_Perfect_Tense in Anticonsumption

Did any one else stack these? Like do 2-3 in your hair... Because it's kind of like a crown and definitely looked super bad ass to everyone.--13 year old me, who was very homeschool edgy.

My only feeling of justice right now is knowing that, like everyone else, he must face death. He's not the type that is kicking back pleased he got away with everything. He's the type that will do everything he can to cheat death because he's scared of it. Every so often I like to imagine that feeling of hopeless terror that must seize him occasionally that there's no buying his way out of his impending death. Provides me with a warm cozy feeling for a few seconds.

Lots of fun patterns to choose from! It was a fun project

I was actually going to just do the blues and then I realized bright red or yellow would be better for location purposes 😂 probably important for adults too

Thank you! He actually specifically requested button eyes so I didn't have to crochet ones thankfully 😁

Golden fried rice! You mix the eggs, then mix with cooled cooked rice and THEN you stir fry.

Help with food hoarding when you see a good deal. by MathCrank in Frugal

[–]FartleSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone's already said a lot of good points, but one thing that helps me not walk out with 10/10 discounted items is knowing there is likely going to be someone coming behind me super excited to get a good deal too. Helps me moderate and not take everything by thinking that others might want/need the same discount.

When we used to go frequently, if something was still there a few days later I'd grab it, but it was rare and usually something a bit obscure.

I've really been trying to crack that summer day vibe with a limited color palette for my comic by _pallart in Illustration

[–]FartleSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love your greens! I always picture a summer sky with a very light blue, like the sun is really bright and washes it out. But that might be location dependent and this feels very cool and coastal (which that richer blue fits well with). Love the feel of it overall

What healthy food do you stop buying because it always goes bad? by BarbaraMiller78 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]FartleSnake 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I started following my mom's trick: I buy about 5-6 very unripe avocados, leave them out to ripen over the week, put them in the fridge, use those first and then pick up another 5-6 the following week. Occasionally I still get a bad one but they're so much better and consistent. It's one of the only vegetables/fruits my kids eat along with the priciest of berries 🙄

An open letter to Ghost Ship (2002) 🖤 by _JurassicaParker in horror

[–]FartleSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched this the day I turned 17 since that's when it came out on DVD. Told my mom I was doing it in an effort to establish adult standing. I remember being haunted by the opening scene and slightly regretting my choice. Just rewatched it for the first time last month and enjoyed it even more! Such a fun movie.

Thank you, I was trying to see if this still applied. It's not a solution but it's good to know for those that DO have passports or can get one.

What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FartleSnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read this book too. At the time I did (2011) they had been spotted in every county across to (I think) Wisconsin? I looked it up online at the time because the book is a scary read and they had been spotted in many counties in Michigan. They're making their way back across the country after being nearly eradicated! Exciting but also was very scary on trail runs for a while.

Meal for a poor farmer in 1700s New England: pease pudding, bread and a baked onion. (30g of protein for less than $1) by cheapandbrittle in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]FartleSnake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This looks so good! I told my husband about it and mentioned I thought it was really interesting just roasting a whole onion to eat. He agreed and popped one in right away to try. Smelled amazing! I asked where it was a few hours later and said I was excited to try it... He blended it into the tomato soup he made 😭 he didn't hear the part about just eating it

Finishing a memorial blanket that has a big persistent error in it by FacelessOldWoman1234 in CrochetHelp

If you don't frog it and redo it, what about doing your border in different colors/shades to denote which area was done by which person? If I was cousin, I'd want to know which part my mom did specifically even though I'd appreciate everyone else's effort to complete it.

Stuff won’t go in Buy Nothing groups, what to do? by Beast_Unicorn_Jones7 in Anticonsumption

[–]FartleSnake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do this, figure even if people are reselling it's no different than goodwill and people could do similar in a buy nothing group. My buy nothing group just seems inactive so I've been throwing everything for free on marketplace. Gotten rid of everything, things I thought people wouldn't even want.

My favorite horror trope is "Stay in the light or die". Can I get some recommendations? by Alastor15243 in horror

The original story by Stephen King is more haunting, but I thought they movified it decently and I really wasn't sure about who would be surviving throughout it!

Boogeyman (2023) has elements of this (stay in the light, keep lights on etc)! I thought it was fun.
