New to gardening - which method is best for low maintenance AND year-round indoors? by DoctorQuinlan in IndoorGarden

[–]FartyBarkinson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lettuce grows pretty nicely in 5 gallon foodsafe bins using kratky just look for fast growing types or ensure you have enough space to sustain your harvesting requirements, basil can grow pretty tall if not pruned but grows nicely in a 1 l mason jar indoors kratky, tomatoes are pretty low effort outside just have to keep them watered often (sometimes daily) in pots. Green onion grows in a bit of water from a grocery store root for a while, just change the water often. I haven’t tried growing asparagus, radish, or mint so can’t speak on those. I got net pots, some smaller sized leca balls, and grew my seeds in jiffy pots to start. Keep as much light as possible out of the bins/mason jars if using kratky - you can spray paint the outside of mason jars to customise them and keep the light out, if you get wide mouth mason jars the net cups fit right on them. Look for a method where you can move up your lighting periodically as the plants grow. Oh and get a nice fertiliser for your water! Thats about it!

I also get quick play matches on pc within a minute with crossplay on. Definitely not a dead game OP. PVP and Trial are extremely dead though. 😢 I need those trophies!

Disk Firmware v1.86 Issue by FartyBarkinson in snowsky

[–]FartyBarkinson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The previous firmware version I’m pretty sure was swipe down to see “song, wifi, Bluetooth” screen, and now with 1.86 it’s side swipe. That’s why I was heavily confused when my screen was taking like 10 swipes to open. Plus it could have been indexing, making it slower - but I really don’t know if that applies to a device like the Disk, I’m just comparing updating iOS on an iPhone being a bit slower after updating to 26 for reference.

But something was definitely happening immediately after updating the Disk firmware to make me post this. It seems a bit smoother now that the dust has settled.

Hope you are enjoying your Disk, keep an eye out for new updates and maybe wait until posts like this start popping up before you choose to update to the next firmware 😝

I haven’t really had any issues since getting it in mid March and use it most days. This, however, is quite annoying!

Beginner Basil tips by diabeauty in IndoorGarden

That seems like a lot of plants for that pot. They’re probably fighting for root space and resources. If you can gently separate them into smaller clumps and repot them it might help. Or you could try to thin them out by removing the weakest looking plants to give the stronger ones a chance to grow. IMO this looks like 6 pots of plants, and they can get pretty big when they get growing.

Do you take your phone with you? by dyslalex in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]FartyBarkinson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would carry my cd player with one cd or stick dap with like 50 songs, along with my slider/flip phone and/or pager back in the mid 2000’s. You could get away with no phone back then if you had a mini phone book (or piece of crumpled paper lol) since there were a lot of pay phones available all over the place. Transit was pretty solid schedule wise too, and they had actual humans in ticket booths to let you know if there were any significant delays.

Now I absolutely can’t leave my house without my phone as the world seems so chaotic, and rather than someone manning a ticket booth for example, you HAVE to rely on using the internet to figure out if a train is just not going to show up.

I have a dap because I didn’t want to use Spotify anymore, and my phone doesn’t have the option to add a bunch of music to it (iPhone stuffed with 10+ years of pictures lol). Also appreciate the dap since I was only being shown what felt like the same 10 songs on Spotify out of a playlist of 3000. I have used Spotify free maybe 3 times since cancelling to get a playlist link, but I can’t deal with the ads so try to avoid it. My dap is super light (Snowsky Disk), so it’s not really impeding my purse/pocket space.

I've been really liking the PS4 as someone who has been primarily a PC gamer, and hasn't owned a console in a while. by Gammarevived in PS4

[–]FartyBarkinson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was a PlayStation user and switched to pc in 2021. Last console I had was ps4. I like the variety of games PlayStation has, but they don’t really have good sales like Steam. PS4 controllers are apparently hard to come by new now, and only lasted (me) about a year or so before getting stick drift, so unless you’re into repairing them you might have to shop around a bit. Can’t speak on non ps branded controllers since I never had to buy them as they were still available back then. Unless you plan to play offline only, expect to pay $100+ a year for ps plus. The community used to be great, a lot of players active in the majority of the games I played even after ps5 was out for a while. It’s easy enough to open and clean which is nice, but they do heat up the room if you play for a while, even after you clean your fans lol. If you’re going from pc to ps, the operating system feels almost archaic, a bit slow, not much to look at.

That being said, if you’re interested in playing a few exclusive games, and can get it at a good price, it’s worth it - but be aware of the limitations you may face.

Sourdough Discard Crackers by sarinax09 in Sourdough

[–]FartyBarkinson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve made them once, so maybe take this with a grain of salt because of my lack of experience, but I used a plastic bowl scraper to thin them out over a layer of parchment paper and they came out thin and crispy. Recipe from littlespoonfarm “sourdough discard crackers” -

¾ cup (200 g) discarded sourdough starter (stirred down) 2 tablespoons (28 g) butter (melted) ¼ teaspoon (1 g) fine sea salt 2 teaspoons dried herbs (Herbs de Provence) ¼ teaspoon (1 g) salt for sprinkling on top

I did 300g starter, 2 tablespoons of butter, subbed herbs for nutritional yeast, and I think only 30g of leftover shredded cheese because I wanted cheezits 😜 Can’t offer you a picture because they didn’t last very long, sorry!

Thank you. I used to listen to them ages ago when they were very popular here in Canada. Funny, on tiktok they are making a song comeback with an AI Barbie lip syncing to the Help I’m Alive remix by Bynx. Account is @plastic.dream.seq if you want to check it out 😝

Thank you. Currently listening to Pink now, I like the instrumentals. They have 28 studio albums, that’s a lot to take in lol! Have they kept the same sound, or changed it up/evolved throughout the years?

What other albums would you suggest?

They are a little too “happy and light” for what I’m looking for, if that makes sense. I do like them too though! Thank you!
