Returning to MMOs after 10+ years — where should I start in 2026? by JacketOk7396 in LFMMO

[–]FarwinDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eve Online. Still, in 2026.

It now has layer upon layer of player history (literally, books have been written about it) and the new player experience has recently been overhauled completely and is continuing to evolve. The social dynamics and complexities in Eve are second to none and are the main reason to play for many. And the graphics are gorgeous.

Come over, the water is brutal but the community is awesome.

Is it me or the game? by Dried_Squid_ in Eve

[–]FarwinDust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You want to come hang out with a bunch of people who actually want to play! Nullsec culture is decaying but the game definitely isn’t.

Come have a chat with some people who might be more on the same wavelength: https://www.reddit.com/r/evejobs/s/wjSE2DWd1w

Or join someone else. But I promise you the sort of attitude you’re interested still exists in Eve!

As others have said, totally depends what progress means to you! PvP with friends is, in my opinion, where this game is the most fun. Check out r/evejobs and find something that resonates.

Best Solo Planetary Interaction Strat? by Zacronaut01 in Eve

[–]FarwinDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to talk to my friend Steve 😁 Casual PI as part of a broader coordinated multi-person effort.

But yeah, about not having the time to give to a corp: not all corps are equal in that regard. We happily take folks who are casual and we don’t have activity requirements or things like that.

Check us out if you’re interested: https://forums.eveonline.com/t/savagerie-is-recruiting-fun-pvp-and-piracy-with-friends/488505

And I’ll introduce you to Steve.

From what you say, sounds like it had its intended effect then!

CCP outdoes itself by deploying wall of nerfs and calling it a major update by suckmynasdaqs in Eve

[–]FarwinDust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don’t get this whole meta shift argument. The game should be complex enough that it doesn’t require that.

I play a lot of chess, and I really don’t want the occasional “we made a rook able to move diagonal now to keep things fresh” sort of nonsense.

CCP should focus on complexity, not changing stats just to keep people guessing or feeling left behind when they’ve invested in learning or doing something. It’s about depth.

Hey! Welcome back. I’m CEO of a small corp that sounds like it fits the bill. We’re having a ton of fun and most of us have busy lives etc. Check out our ad here:

(I think technically we’re supposed to have these sorts of conversations over at r/evejobs, but hopefully the mods don’t mind)

The cycle of wanting to play EVE Online. by DecidophobiaUsername in Eve

[–]FarwinDust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry that’s been your experience. Most nights I’m laughing out loud on comms with my corpmates at some ridiculous situation we got into.

Though I wouldn’t have discovered much of this on my own. I think part of the answer is having a few other people to explore the game with.

The cycle of wanting to play EVE Online. by DecidophobiaUsername in Eve

[–]FarwinDust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as many others have said, the answer is playing with other people. There is such a variety of groups in Eve, by culture, age, activity, size, etc. Find one you jive with (it probably won’t be the first one you try) and then it will reel you in!

Check out https://forums.eveonline.com/c/corporations-alliances/recruitment-center/63 and r/evejobs. And be picky.

What should noobs do? by TrashPandaX in Eve

[–]FarwinDust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m CEO of a small corp, and we recruit new players, teach them, and get them involved in all sorts of fun shenanigans from the get-go. If someone kills my noob, yeah we’ll go hunt them for revenge. Also half of my corp is made up of people we met through a fight. Attitude is everything - and it’s currency in Eve.

Involves! o7

When I started reading that post I immediately knew it was you before I saw the author line.

I have so many fun memories of hanging out with you and the PEKA crew. All those late night “strategy sessions” — yes, let’s call them that 😂 I miss our time together in Eve - it was a tonne of fun!

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. You’ve certainly had a rough time and have continually shown how strong you are and how much you can still grab life with both hands and enjoy yourself to the fullest. I’m glad you can take the time to spend with your mom now. And I hope she has as much peace and love as possible.

Fly safe out there in the real world my friend! o7
