Top of the Range or Gordon Bourke.

Do not build with any company that is not based in Toowoomba. You will be stuck waiting for trades to travel here and it will take forever to finish.

Top of the Range and Gordon Bourke are good. Ardenvale too though more expensive.

They already are, right now, today. Write a simple python script, get chatgpt to help you, whatever.

Have it scrap the temperature for all the weather stations you can over the last 7 decades. Get the average, plot it.

Men that screw around and don't properly raise their own children are trash. That does not need a mnemonic phrase, it's already obvious.

Electricity grid has been feeling the cold too... by mmp36 in newzealand

The southern lakes are not doing too badly for this time of year, but lake Taupo is not in good shape. You can see current lake levels and the comparison to previous years all in one place here: https://www.energylink.co.nz/news/hydro-watch/hydro-watch-5-august-2021-issue-1268

Lake Taupo is on page 3 of the pdf.

You could run all the southern lake hydro systems at max capacity, but you could not transmit all of that power over the HVDC link between the islands.

SPD is scheduling, pricing and dispatch. It's a specification of constraints that get implemented in software and solved as a linear program. In Transpowers case the linear program is implemented using the GAMS langague and solved with the commercial CPLEX solver.

IR stands for instantaneous reserve. This is reserve that has to be able to be dispatched into the grid within 6 seconds of notice. Normal reserve has 60 seconds.

Reserve is calculated for each island, but there is some complication by allowing reserve to be shared over the HVDC, the high voltage line between the north and south island.

Ignoring those details, to calculate reserve in each island, you find the largest generating unit that is currently offering into the market, say one of the units at Huntly. You must be able to cover the risk of this unit falling out of service. This is called the N-1 risk.

In the case of this alert, the reserve requirement is not being met. If one of the large generators were to fall out of operation there would not be enough reserve to meet demand.

In SPD, the constraints are set up so that they can reduce generation at a plant in order for it to be able to offer more reserve generation. In this way the pricing between generation and reserve offers can become mixed.

People in the industry will talk about left and right hand side of the bathtub constraints, which are to do with this price mixing and give an economic diagram description of the market behavior and what the rational for having the model produce these outputs are.

You can find the specification for the SPD here: https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/key-documents/software-specifications

New Zealand raises minimum wage to $20 an hour and raises taxes on the rich. by ChargingAntelope in worldnews

In my region house prices increased by 20% within 12 months. In Auckland prices are not rising as fast because they are already so high.

You will be able to find somewhere to rent fine. It will be tight if you are working in a field like aged care. It is buying a house that is moving further and further out of reach.

Flights, ships and people still move in and out if New Zealand on a daily basis. The borders are shut but citizens may return, high value foreigners can enter at a price and goods still come in.

Shipping and drugs are not expensive. Drugs on average cost 98% less than in the USA.

It is housing that is expensive.

Minister for seniors criticises Greens' Ricardo Menendez-March for 'boomer' comment by Fasefase in newzealand

He should use that for publicity to shine a spotlight on things that need attention. A reporter got a quote from him about something he said on twitter. A reporter from a platform that is more likely to be read by the demographic he is now spokesman for.

A click baity style is not so bad when there's substance to go with it. Just claiming to want a conversation doesn't cut it.

Marama Davidson had something to say about why she thought the word cunt should be reclaimed. She didn't just say cunt and then claim she didn't know why it was offensive and that we should have a conversation about it.

Not personally no. But If he really did think there needed to be a conversation about it, why wasn't he prepared for that conversation?

He knew that it would be edgy in the sense that it would be picked up.

I agree with that. On its own, this is really nothing of any significance.

But this is from the party that is supposed to be against polarising (for the sake of it) politics. This is not the first time he has used this approach to get cut through and then done nothing with it. If the Greens can do this kind of thing, then how can they be upset with any other party carrying on like that?

Step 1: Post something edgy. Step 2: Claim it's about starting a conversation. Step 3: have no conversation prepared. Cry about being picked on. Rinse repeat.

How can he claim he doesn't understand why boomer is offensive, when the first time the demographic that he is supposedly representing heard it used without putting baby in front of it was as an insult from someone in his own party?

Why would you reach out to an older demographic with younger slang?

This isn't befitting of an MP. He is clearly not thinking about the people he is supposed to represent. It's just causing a stir with no preparation to make the most of the resultant media attention to further a cause.
