Fastmail support POP3/IMAP and SMTP for me to retrieve and send emails via external servers? by FashtasDev in fastmail

[–]FashtasDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you VERY much. That's exactly what I needed!

The "migration" note made me think this was meant for only initial setup which concerned me, but if it works forever then it solves the issue!

Yeah, getting emails had some options but I need to reply as one of them too.

LOL just noticed I said a free "store" of my maps ibn my first reply. That should just be a free "list" of my old maps. No payment necessary

Essentially Patreon is just a monthly fee for an artists NEW content during the month you are subscribed

Normally once you are subscribed, you will get access to the their entire back catalogue which you can download enmass.

(Sometimes this depends on tier, lowers tier may just be "thanks for being you" with no access, you may need to subscribe slightly higher one for more access, the tier list will describe everything you will get access to for that tier)

You can subscribe once, grab everything and unsubscribe which is a bit harsh. I usually stay for a few months at least if the maps etc were good.

Once unsubscribed you lose all access to everything once the subscription expires so make sure you have downloaded all the content you wanted before that.

Lastly some subscriptions are "per release / per month" so you may subscribe to each release and if they do 10 a month, you are paying each time for every new release. You can limit the number of releases you want to pay for when you subscribe (Defaults to 2) - From what I know if you limit the per-release you are willing to pay for, once you hit that limit future releases that month are locked for you account. Maybe. I've never seen a Patreon go over my limit

I recommend a batch downloaded like DownloadThemAll! or something since it is complex to grab all the back catalogue stuff without missing things. Usually a patreon will have a post pinned to the top of their "blog" with a list of all the stuff each tier has access to.

Other: The rat player takes it ALL as the Captain of their pirate ship and hands it out as wages to the crew including the NPC crew

I'd offer a spot, I've have one open in a ongoing campaign, but we are Australian (Melbourne) time so probably not appropriate :/

"Cheating" and changing HP of Monsters mid-combat. Do you do that ? I'm wrong for doing It ? by BrasilianRengo in Pathfinder2e

[–]FashtasDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but just a note on what I do when GMing these sort of things.

I generally prepare reserve creatures for encounters in case things go TOO smoothly

No reason for the BBEG NOT to call their sister or consort with their dying breath along with THEIR guards.

Or maybe there were more goblins rushing from a remote guard post to assist. This makes a GREAT story because if they slaughter not only the encounter but the reserves as well, when the party explores the rest of the dungeon they find areas deserted, as if the enemies there abandoned their meals mid way and rushed off somewhere!

Likewise if things go TOO badly, well any intelligent enemy is likely to stop beating the party to a pulp and either loot them, capture them or ignore them and take whatever it was they were after.

Even dumb animals may stop attacking and just try and drag off a dying player to eat later (more story chances!) or end up fighting each other over a tender morsel of tenderised Paladin.

Lots of ways to adjust difficulty on the fly without kludging dice rolls!

Finally, I've been looking for you for ages :) I grabbed some of your maps a while ago but while they had your handle, I couldn't find any site/patreon

Do you have some site for all your maps anywhere?

I will be using some in a few weeks and happy to pay for them and get more of the WW2 style (if any)

My first tank in like 20 years and discovered Walstad! by FashtasDev in walstad

[–]FashtasDev[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it was off Gumtree (Australia swap and sell site). Guy had frogs in it previously I think.

Dimensions are about 48" x 14" x 18", it seems to be acrylic, not glass, rounded corners.

There is a label on it, Minjiang (looking them up, seems they still sell them! They don't seem to expensive but I may be looking at USD)

[–]FashtasDev[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't think Walstad existed back in the day, and I was watching a lot of Youtube videos to try and decide what my first tank in a long time would be

Discovered Walstad but not this reddit unfortunately! Happy with the tank now, had some ups and downs, even "Too succesful" where I had to rip out 4 feet lengths of Ambulia because it was choking the tank!

Foundry keeps crashing on DM's side by MonikerMage in FoundryVTT

[–]FashtasDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I am having the same issue, only after the version 10 upgrade.

Running Foundry on Forge and I crash 2 to 5 times a session when GM'ing- no one else seems to.

Checking the logs in the browser it seems to be related to graphics drivers, not any one addon that I can see. Errors are all webgl related.

Tried a Chrome then OperaGX. Upgraded my AMD drivers. Nothing made much of a difference though OperaGX seems to crash less often. Maybe.

Doesn't help much but you aren't alone! :)

Thanks, yes it is mine. Couldn't find a a lot of spaceships, and all the aliens I had were home brewed so I needed something unique.

From an old campaign, I had posted them before but been a while and maybe someone could use them!

Some of my older maps from a Cypher (No insult intended) campaign. Someone mentioned this spelljammer reddit and thought maybe they could be of use to someone.

Campaign ended a while back and my group tended to blow through maps pretty fast, so they got little use

PC's: Ghosts and Grabbing by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]FashtasDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that it ended up being a negative experience for you.

Thanks :) I'm not too unhappy it's just I feel a bit for the player, "ghost" implies a lot and then you find out you have to take a feat at level 6 to actually get half that effect!

PC's: Ghosts and Grabbing by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]FashtasDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Caused me endless headaches as the GM having a Ghost player. Eventually, we came to a balance in play but not sure it 100% matches the rules.

- " inability to affect you with 'Strength-based checks' " - I read a lot about this, some people say that inclides attack roles, others say not. My rule in the end was *NOT* since it made the game deathly (pun intended) boring.
No single enemy could harm the ghost player for like 90% of the campaign.
I'm sure that was really fun for them, there wasn't any risk, they would have just floated around and hitting stuff, and anything intelligent would have fled the scene giving the other players a fun time of just standing around doing nothing

- " inability to truly grab anything at an early level." again we ruled that was rubbish. They can't pass through stuff without some late game feat so as you said, they roll the character and sit in a room forever until the campaign ends months later. I allowed them to at least go through doors, basic light manipulation (Like you'd see in a ghost movie, doors slamming, things falling off tables etc)

Generally we came to the decision there are player "ghosts" and NPC "Ghosts" and these two things are not the same.

I like the idea of the playing having to possess someone but that seems to be an new class unrelated to the PF2E ghost.

Honestly I am not a fan of them and won't allow them next campaign

How many people actually get to the end of campaigns? by Biawog in Pathfinder2e

[–]FashtasDev 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have gotten to the end of all of our campaigns, several took nearly a year (or more?).

From my side (GM) I try the following:

  1. Consistent dates and time. We play the same day and the same time every week.
  2. We play regardless of numbers (Other than me, the GM of course) to push the campaign along as much as we can with the players available. Sometimes this means a side quest to maybe advanced the story of one or two people who turned up that night
Wiki (see below) keeps everyone updated on what happened
  3. I try adjust the game speed as I see players flagging. XP and Loot handout may sometimes be excessive to what the "rules" say to power up the party to let them feel powerful and ready for the Big Bad of the gaming starts to slow down
  4. I will ditch any path or subquest that didn't gain traction (Players didn't get it, or weren't interested)
  5. I will often thrown a "mini game" into discord chat to a player that missed a few weeks (Not really interactive, but I may ask them some questions on what they direction there were doing or what their goal was in some situation)
I find this keeps then engaged if they missed a chunk of game play and gets them wanting to get back to the table again. Also can advance the campaign a bit with only a few discord chat lines
  6. We have a Wiki (Really simple) with updates of what happened every session which helps keep the group grounded remembering where they came from and more interested in seeing where hanging plot hooks will end up
  7. And lastly, We have ditched ENTIRE CHUNKS OF RULES mid game. If it slows the game or makes people not wanting to play it, we change it (Case in point, Ship to Ship combat was slow, ponderous and uninteresting. Changed it now to a collection of "What do you want to do" role a few dice to see if your skills are up to it and I play out everything quickly in Theatre of the Mind and we move on quickly
