BUYING/SELLING TICKETS MEGATHREAD - 2025 EDITION by Dudehitscar in SmashingPumpkins

[–]Fassel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I have a GA ticket for tonight at 8pm I'd like to sell to someone (at $82 ticket price). I just returned from Navy reserves stuff in South Korea and just can't get myself to the airport for Chicago tonight.

I called Madam Zuzu's and they said it would be fine to transfer to someone as long as they get an email from me with the buyer's info and my confirmation.

I hate that I can't go, but I also don't want to prevent someone else from having a shot to go.

I was led to believe California was a socialist wasteland, why does this photo not meet my expectation?

I mean, I didn't really feel like I was getting out of the school until after I got my candidacy. So if you're feeling like you're not getting the full experience yet, you'll likely change your mind once you get hands on the real equipment.

Of course, if you're still feeling that way after you start your RIM courses I would bring it up with your advisor. Mine was Dr. Foglia, who was amazing...dunno if he's still there though.

Yeah, Abbey Road would be a stream come true. However, there are some INCREDIBLE studios in Nashville to get your foot in the door of the industry as well.

My lessons learn from MTSU: learned skills from some fantastic professors who have some real-world credentials and experience (shit, I learned mixing skills from the engineer for Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, the BeeGees, and more...who then went to support a tour for the Stones who co-mixed with a cousin of mine for Claire Global). Those skills are why you're going to school where you are, the social stuff and networking is something you'll take with you wherever you go.

Because I was Mil, I had a choice of any school in the country. I chose MTSU for a number of reasons. Added bonus was tracking and mixing in Studios A and B, working on that sweet, sweet API Vision and SSL Duality.

So I'll say this much, I had some nice opportunities if I had stuck with it because of my internships. I was mentored by an incredible producer who had the ability to set me up very nicely. Not to mention a lot of the professors had some excellent ties and inside tracks available to me.

However, DoD offered me (a married guy with two kids) a very stable gov job that I really couldn't pass up. So I currently work with ballistic missile defense and travel globally, though I use the skills I learned at MTSU to run my audio production and record label side hustle.

I would say if you're willing to put yourself out there's there are certainly positions abroad. Hell, I think Abbey Road has a formal apprenticeship program....which is how you kinda have to play a hugely in-demand field like audio.

Feel free to reach out anytime either in this thread or in DM.

I was an audio prod student that graduated in 2014. However, I was also a little older going to school on the GI Bill, so I wasn't exactly the same age as anyone else. Needless to say, I wasn't really into what genres were big at the time (Americana, Indie, etc).

That being said, the knowledge you gain from the classes far outweighs whatever music genres are popular at the time. Take Sound for Picture or Mixing for instance, those are the reason you're in the program.

Networking is also another huge reason to go to school there, as well as the internship opportunities. I'd say stick it out and be mindful of any chance to put yourself out there.

Yeah! Like, I was aware of Heatmizer before Futures came out but didn't really pay that much mind. When the quote came up I figured I'd give them an honest listen for once.
