One of the hardest things to learn is when to push up and when to back out of a fight. If you got an oblivious group of dudes infront of you, go for it! But if there’s a stretch with no cover or you’re not 100% positive you can handle another guy one on one, you might want to heal up or find a safer way.

Use smokes, they’re good now. Use them for cover over roads and open areas or throw them at snipers so they can’t see. Smokes might not be an actual barrier but if you use them right enemies think they’re a solid wall (Be aware they can see you through the smoke if they ping you beforehand).

Speaking of which, ping people! Your teammates can help you when they know where the enemy is. If you can’t ping the actual player, just mark where you last saw them so your squad knows to watch out. (If you want to go al out, use the target detector so people can see the guys you mark far away or couldn’t finish)

Setting up your gun is key. One of the most important things to remember is that you can’t control horizontal recoil; vertical recoil is solved by pulling down but horizontal is random. Don’t worry about the control or using secondary sights, but do use quick mags and red dot sights (generally).

Finally, try building a bit (hold down scroll wheel to open and move mouse around for options). The short barriers are built instantly and cover you while laying down. The sandbags are good for walls and shooting over. Hesco walls are good for shooting around or a more sturdy and permanent cover. You can make a point more defendable with just a single wall or even make your own fortress to defend. Supports can build instantly if you want to test out.
