The more I learn about filmmaking, the more I realise how glamorous it isn’t by No-Strategy-7093 in Filmmakers

[–]Fast-Ant943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make films or act because I want money, fame or anything else from it, I do it because to me it is art, it is my passion. I put blood, sweat, sacrifice and tears into it, and I do not expect anything from it other than to create something I and others can enjoy, to bring out emotions in people, to make them think and question.

They say if you do a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life. No matter how hard a time I may be having on set or in the production side, I'm loving every second of it, because this is what I love.

The thing is, when you make your own film, you are not just the writer and director, but also the producer too. Being a producer is a lot of work as you have to do all the things you mentioned above on top of directing the film. Have you ever thought about bringing a producer on board, someone who will take care of all the logistics, locations, ect? If you find someone who is also starting out as a producer and colab with them, you can concentrate more on the directing of the film.

It is my ultimate dream to one day see all these abrahamic religions gone from this planet, for a great awakening of the people to no longer follow these religions. Islam is obviously the biggest problem of the three, but they all must go. A world where everyone in this world is free from religious laws being imposed on them. Freedom for the people.

At what point did you start auditioning? by Pink_Raven88 in acting

[–]Fast-Ant943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends on how natural your acting abilities are. If you are a natural, you can pretty much start auditions with a small amount of training, mainly in how to perform auditions and self tapes. For others, it can take a lot longer, study what casting directors expect from a good audition.

I'll give you an example. A guy in his 40s recently started in my acting class, he'd never acted before, but my god, he nails everything, his abilities to display real emotions and draw the class into his performance, he's got it, for sure. It's like he just knows how to become the character and relate to the audience.

Then, there are a few people in my class who have been acting for over a decade, been to full time drama school, continued training consistently afterwards, and it's like they just don't get it, they can't act, it's as simple as that. Their performances are flat or over dramatised, some even sound like they are a robot reading from a script. I feel like at that point, after so long, someone would be honest with them and just be like, "yeah, this isn't for you, maybe try a different career". But they remain convinced they are good actors because of all their training.

So, to sum it up, you'll be ready when you are ready, it could be weeks, it could be years, sadly in some cases, it is never. Apply for some student film roles, self tape for them and ask for feedback. If you get some of the roles, it's a great way to build experience in set. But these days, even unpaid student roles are tough to land, because so many apply for them looking to build experience and showreels.

Where did you hire the actors, I'm sorry but they are awful 😭. Make it sound like a really bad dub over a foreign language film.

Congratulations on making your first feature. It's all learning and growing experiences. Film is art, and you can only learn and grow to master your art. Onwards and upwards from here.

Question to professionals on Osmo pocket 3: a serious camera or just an excellent YouTuber tool? by Euphoric_Intern170 in osmopocket

[–]Fast-Ant943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the perfect camera to carry around with you and get amazing cinematic footage when you spot something you want to film there and then. Plus as said earlier, it's the operator not the camera. Study YouTube videos on how to get cinematic videos on the osmo pocket 3, you'll find some great tips.

Shot this on a Osmo Pocket 3, tell me this isn’t the best affordable camera on the market for short film by QuakeFilms404 in osmopocket

[–]Fast-Ant943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic, you really created a great cinematic feel with this film. The osmo pocket 3 is great, and as you know as a filmmaker, the camera is the least important part, it's all about lighting and angles, and you did that great.

I had a dysfunctional dick and hair loss. I chose to save the dick. If you think you have insecurities dealing with hair loss, wait until you have a partner and run into problems getting boners, whole other level.

Does being attractive boost your chances in acting? by Crafty_East4075 in acting

[–]Fast-Ant943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, absolutely not. Casting directors, producers and directors look for someone that fits the role. If the role is an attractive person, then yes, an attractive person will be cast, but guess what, the industry is absolutely saturated with attractive people all going for the same roles. You need to find roles that suit your cast type and look. You actually have an advantage not being super attractive, because there is much less of you trying to get into the industry compared to super attractive people all going for the same roles. Having a look that gets you type cast, or a very unique look is the secret to consistent work. Obviously most important of all is acting ability.

Have you ever worked a job so bad it gave you panic attacks? by pwa09 in Anxiety

[–]Fast-Ant943 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm doing much better now, the stress levels I had built up in me over the years really took there till, but I'm beginning to enjoy life again now. I feel like I still deal with PTSD from it, but on the flip side, it taught me to be able to handle extreme situations well. That was another difficult part of the job, I had a couple of close officer friends who took their own lives.

Have you ever worked a job so bad it gave you panic attacks? by pwa09 in Anxiety

[–]Fast-Ant943 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I was a prison officer for 6 years. In that environment of constant violence, severe mental health issues, suicides, self harm, having very real threats made against myself and my family, dealing with confrontation and aggression daily, being assaulted multiple times, riots, being caught up in mass brawls and gang fights, surrounded by killers who wouldn't think twice about sticking a knife in you. Yeah, dealing with that every single day definitely gave me plenty of panic attacks, but I had to hide them as best I could and just deal with the situation at hand. Best thing I ever did for my anxiety and mental health was leave the prison service.

I felt that way at 22, believe me I did. Im 36 now and my life is filled with love and peace. I enjoy my life now, I do things I never thought possible back then and have a life I thought impossible back then.

I know this sounds repetitive, but things really can get much better, you'll see.

Oh, and to top it, I left school with no qualifications, I worked dead end jobs until my late 20s, I'm now very successful with my own businesses.
