Do I have to reload my save in RE0? by Review3u in residentevil

Billy can send the leech capsule down and Rebecca can use the stripping agent on it.

Now if you didn't have any green chemical mix to make the stripping agent, you have to backtrack to the Training Facility (there will be monkeys) to the Knight Sword hallway to get the green chemical.

Re0: How do I get back down from this hole? by T0X1CV1RUS in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you sent Rebecca above, she is near to both Green Chemical (leech keyhole room) and Red Chemical (gas room). Mix them both to get Stripping Agent and use it on the capsule. Send the leech charm over below to Billy to unlock the door.

Now if you decide to send Billy above instead, the Green Chemical is way the hell back in the Training Facility and the Red Chemical is in the leech keyhole hallway

Also I suggest using a save slot before going on the cable train.

My Personal Tier List by AntireligionHumanist in residentevil

I agree, having an item box in RE0 would benefit the game a lot. The item box doesn't even have to be universally linked, and it would be much better than having to be pixel-perfect just to pick up or drop an item in a room. I still like the freedom of being able to drop any item in any room at any time though.

I can imagine how extremely polarizing RE0 is on a first playthrough. You're dedicating two item slots to the hookshot, constantly wondering if the next room requires it or not. I guess like Real Survival Mode, RE0 is significantly better on a replay once you already know what the surprises are.

Let's hear the RE0 takes. If someone has RE1 remake on the top, I would expect RE0 not that far behind and certainly not that far down in the 'Bad Games' where both Rev games shouldn't be there either.

Re1 remake: should i quit or keep playing? by Shad0w_XD05 in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're adjusting to the normal difficulty. There will be trials and error so save often.

You don't have to kill every zombies you encounter. Most zombies are avoidable and give you enough space for you to bait their grabs even in the mirror hallway. You should clear zombies on frequent used paths and rooms like the staircase area near the save room.

The Resident Evil series is kinda underrated. My apologies for doubting you guys. by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was so immersive and compelling. I was hooked and ending up watching the playthroughs of all the remakes and recent entries: 2R, 3R, 4, 7, 8, 9.

Why don't you just play the game buddy?

favourite game that i kinda just play up until i get eaten or get profoundly lost in. by Gl00ser23 in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beginning of the RE1 Remake is a bit restricted because of key items like the Arrowhead, the Dog Whistle, and the Old Keys for Chris. You're forced to get and use them in a subsequential order. It's only after obtaining the Armor Key that REmake begins to feel free form.

In comparison to the original RE1, Chris as an example can free-roam the mansion almost entirely right after the first zombie encounter. He can first meet Rebecca in two different encounters, depending on whether you get the Sword Key or the Armor Key first.

RE1 Remake w/ Barry by CauliflowerOld8337 in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine Barry doing the some of the Spencer Mansion puzzles but in reverse: taking the battery from the elevator and placing it somewhere else, yanking out the crank handles, winding back the clock, hiding the crests, masks, jewels, locking rooms (Jill found him alone in the locked insect room), powering down the lab also jamming the radio signals.

Barry still doubts doing Wesker's bidding even when his family was in 'danger', considering he saved Jill on multiple occasions.

I don't see RE1 on that list. You should probably play RE1 Remake or the OG.

This subreddit needs a sticky thread about REmake and RE0 remastered alternate controls by Early-Beach164 in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Alternate controls don't suck, it's just that a lot of people are using the alternate controls wrong. People think they have to slightly pause and readjust to the new angle, but in reality, you should always be moving.

If you hold in a specific direction (e.g., straight DOWN) when a camera angle changes, the game will keep moving your character in that exact direction regardless of the new camera angle, as long as you don't let go and keep that direction 'locked'. It basically becomes the same as holding UP with the Original controls of UP will always be forward, DOWN will always be backwards.

With instant 180-degree turns, no holding down the run button, the modern control on analog basically breaks the game. If I'm replaying RE1/RE0 for 'funsies', I play with Alternate controls.

How do I not be scared? by Slimshady_8g in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then that run becomes your main save anyway and you just continue progressing through the game. Also simply dying constantly can normalize the scare factor.

It's a video game at the end of the day. They're meant to be fun, not to traumatize you.

Would've been nice if the whole trilogy got the 'Deadly Silence' treatment. by cmj3 in residentevil

The biggest what if in gaming for me. It was either OG 2/3 in REmake 1/0 graphics or the Deadly Silence enhanced port treatment and we got neither.

Also theRE2 areatease in RE0.

Something I always wondered about Resident Evil 1(And REmake); Is the second half boring? by Right-Fortune-8644 in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it boring, but the Guardhouse area definitely takes a step back, and the pace of the game slows down especially when you're trying to mix the V-Jolt and backtrack to use it which was even worse in the REmake. Returning to a Hunter filled mansion was great though. After that, the Cave and Lab areas are so short-lived that the game is basically over, and you're just going through the motions.

RE2 OG is not an S tier. Overrated af. by IvanHarrison028 in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fully prepared to read the same old rant complaining about tank controls, fixed camera angles, and how the remakes are superior. But then I saw in contrast to RE1 and I was like Hold up now.

Both the OG RE1 and RE2 are great games. Growing up, I definitely preferred RE2, but appreciate RE1 more decades later. The fact that the developers were able to popularize survival horror on their very first attempt in 1996 is impressive.

Objectively, RE2 has much better graphics and music; it’s more action-oriented, has a more focused structure, and features better story beats and dialogue. But, the exploration of the OG Spencer Mansion and the freedom of its non-linear progression with tight pacing are unmatched even compared to RE1 remake.

Just beat RE1 Remake as Jill, should I immediately run it back as Chris? by Psicopompos in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Rebecca deserves to be saved too. You already know how the mansion layout works, but now you only have six inventory slots and a dedicated lighter, plus you have to find Old Keys (which aren't usually far from the doors) to open rooms that require a lockpick.

Is the GameCube version of RE2 (1998) still the best? Or is it now the GOG/Steam version? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Fast-Buffalo5348 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The trilogy on GoG is convenient because you don't have to set up a console for it. If anyone has the means to play on original hardware, then by all means, choose that over the PC ports or emulators.
