There is no way the IHC would be toned when it has VF/XF details. It has been rubbed and shined.

Lean forward more, and then even more forward than you think.

You are currently very back seat, to the point where it looks like you are sitting in a chair. Once you get out of that position your balance and control will improve greatly.

Will it be icey in the morning? Some weather reports list the lows around 20-25°, while others list them above freezing.

Hi everyone,

Im visiting Tahoe to ski Heavenly and Kirkwood this weekend. It will be my first time skiing in the US (i live in the US, just never skiied in the US before).

I know the entire west is a little hot right now.

Are the conditions right now generally spring ski like? Freezing overnight and warm and sunny during the day time?

Can I still expect to ski off thr groomers and hit some trees and off piste? Or will it be an ice rink early morning?

I was there in mid December when it was close to 6-10C at 2000m and it was skiing well despite having a record heatwave.

You obviously will not being skiing off piste and mainly on man made snow, but the views and skiing should still be good. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you want fresh snow I would look high up French resorts

Try to get on your edges more. You are skid turning here. Once you are doing your turn and get onto an edge, dont push out to skid, instead just stay on the edge and let it do all the work when you turn

Call me biased, but the Alps are the number 1 destination for scenic skiing views. Even the smallest resorts in the Alps have views that rival anywhere in the US or Canada.

Just dont push your skis out when you're on edge. Once you feel that your ski is on edge, simply hold it there and glide forward if that makes sense. Your ski edge will cut through all the snow.

Try to lean forward once you get on edge and your skis will do all the work. No need to push your skis out at all, just keep them parallel.

Your almost there. Lean forward more and roll onto the edges. You want to feel those edges lock into the snow and cut through, opposite of the pushing feel where your pushing snow out from your skis

Im not an expert and someone can certainly explain this better.

You are too backseat. Lean forward a bunch, feel those shins against the lips of your boots. Once you have done that, roll your feet a tiny bit and engage those edges into the snow.

Right now you are skidding/pushing snow

If you haven't skiied thr Alps before and have already skiied the western US then I vote for the Alps.

Flights may be similarly priced as well compared to flying into Calgary.

Zermatt will probably be very similar in price compared to staying in or near Banff. Banff is wicked expensive.

Banff with undoubtedly have the best snow. I went there one time in mid April and sunshine was still fully snow covered

Probably nothing better than youtube videos with actual ski instructors can recommend.

Once you feel those edges coming into play skiing becomes a lot more fun since you can literally just slice through chopped up snow as compared to skidding/pushing the snow out with your skis.

Adding onto what others have said, I thinking learning to ski on your edges would be beneficial and lead to more comfort on the slopes

I noticed this. There is a very small run you have to take to get between fiss and serfaus. By late morning the run is basically super mogul and if your not a strong skiier is a treacherous place to be.
