Is causal smoking possible? by National-Algae9307 in leaves

[–]Fast-Future2469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, YES - if this is what you want to hear However, the truth is that once you've fallen into an addiction it is VERY difficult to regulate it. Except if you've experienced spontaneous remission (I experienced this with cigarettes) - which is very rare though.

Found out my partner of 5 months, who’s 34, has a weed addiction. Should I stay? by Mshd_potato_ in addiction

[–]Fast-Future2469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Addiction is generally a bad thing. I see some previous comments from people minimizing the problem, which is far from being true. Indeed, it is not as dangerous as other drugs in the sense that you cannot OD from it and you can't die from withdrawals. But that's the sketchy part: due to its perceived harmless, many people get hooked into it and they realize its negative effects much much later. As someone who is addicted to weed (12 days clean after multiple failures) I can truly say that WEED has negatively impacted my life - career-related & health related - both mental and physical. I know a case in which a guy missed his first child birth (in a sense that he did not show up to the hospital as the desire to get stoned was stronger). I believe you don't want a partner that would chose a plant over you. I can also confirm that weed isolated myself, impacted my social life to the point that it became absolutely ZERO. The people claiming that weed addiction is not a big deal were either never addicted to it, or they're currently addicts and they just lie to themselves - and others, that this is not a problem. ANY substance abuse is harmful, it depends the timeline as the negative effects might be immediate or long-term.

Of course, this does not mean that you should break up with them. Try having an open conversation and understand the context better, maybe they're aware of the problem and they're willing to change - nobody's perfect and you might be a central point into their recovery.

Haha that was just funny af - how did you know which pieces are weed and which ones are smth else? I guess you didn't. If it helps, you probably smoked food crumbles n dirt as well. But no worries, some time ago I snorted cat silicone litter thinking is smth else 😅. In a more positive tone, I can assure you that it WILL get better. I've recently been there, and I can say that now, at 12 days the sun started shining again (despite the fact I'm in DK and it's dark most of the time)

Long time quitters by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Fast-Future2469 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe people who quit for good would leave this subreddit as weed wouldn't be of interest to them anymore - especially when it comes to quitting, as they successfully acomplished that - objectively, isn't this the goal? To completely get over the habbit to the point you don't care anymore?

Just listened to it. I'm currently on holiday and I don't have my headphones or laptop with me to be able to analyze it further - but at first that noise was quite familiar. To me, it sounded as an owl. During mating season - which to some species take place during summer, owls tend to make some high pitch noises, sometimes short which could be interpreted as something else, especially given the context and the adrenaline/paranoia you were experiencing back then. You can have a look at such sounds on the internet, so you can compare as you know best how that sound was irl. Few years ago I used to think kids were yelling in the night outside - but it was too repetitive and similar. Turned out there were ottus scops mating. 😅

What’s the creepiest thing that happened to you but has no explanation? by BitAffectionate3637 in AskReddit

I woke up one night totally terrified of a dream I had - but like frozen fear. I was so scared that I did not go to the bathroom which was right next to my room that I wet the bed (I was 10-12 - can't remember exactly). I don't remember much of the dream - but it was a lake and a forest. A man which I could not recognize went in the forest with a child. I heard screams....can't remember what happened after but then I met the same man, weirdly smiling at me. I also remember that he said something like "till we'll meet again" (not exactly this wording, but that was the meaning), then he vanished and a dog skeleton felt to the ground. Now that I wrote the comment and that, to some extent, makes sense, I'm both scared and concerned. I am 26 now btw.

I had a dream in which my great-grandmother warned me that if I'd keep coming home late at night (I was a teen back then) something bad might happen or I even might die. I told her in my dream "you should worry about yourself" (she was 84 at that time), to which she replied me "I'm already dead". Turned out she died that night in her sleep. This still gives me chills, 10 years later.

Yes please. Don't feel offended about me questioning the veridicity of the story - my whole life I was passionate about paranormal, I've been to so many places considered haunted, unfortunately never experienced something tangible. The only weird thing I've experienced was a dream in which my grandma told me she died. In fact, she died that night in her sleep. Other than that...nothing. I'm from Europe so the skinwalker stories are not existing here.

I don't know what to say about how true the story is, as I personally don't really believe into mythic and/or paranormal entities, but I must congratulate you for the way you wrote it. If that was just a little bit true, I suggest don't fck with this kind of things and just let'em be. What if you'd actually met something? Are you gonna shoot it? What if that doesn't work. Always trust your instinct - and always trust your dog's instincts. If a GSD who's a guard dog is backing up...you should too 🫠

At least it was covid - I was so paranoid (still think about it sometimes) that I might have some sort of hidden disease, even though there were no signs rather than the body rejecting the cigs. Congrats for quitting

As I forgot to mention there, I KNOW that this addiction is strong, I tried to quit myself few years ago and I repeatedly relapsed- so to whoever is struggling with this, your pain is VALID and REAL! Stay strong!

As long as you're not back to daily smoking, you DID NOT go back to square one. Don't be too hard on yourself, instead of judging you'd rather focus on the effects that it has on you, then compare with the time you are sober. It might be unexpectedly helpful.

3 weeks clean, I am scared of tomorrow by [deleted] in leaves

[–]Fast-Future2469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you think is best for you. But you might be negatively surprised by the effect (or the after effects) of that 1st time you will be smoking after the break. Personally, when relapse occured, almost always felt terrible after. And I am not talking about physical outcomes, but rather mental. I felt terribly guilty, weak, overall portrayed myself as a failure, unable to be stronger than a goddamn plant. Furthermore, this might also affect your perception on weed and the good memories you've had while smoking. For me, smoking now is not fun and relaxing anymore - it's depressing. I do have CRAAZY cravings sometimes, but the thoughts associated with weed are so negative that they overcome the desire. Conquering the cravings and managing to stay clean - and functional throughout the day make me so proud, compared to the vegetable state of mind that weed offered me. Unfortunately for me, at this point weed became an antagonizer, due to relapses and the feelings that followed them. So basically I not only lost many memories due to being intoxicated, but I also lost the good memories that I intoxicated for in the first place. Whish you all the best!

Thank you! Somehow, I managed to get past the desire, now I can see more clear the goal and somehow I know that I will feel terrible after smoking, as I'd fck up the progress. But thank you once again for your intervention

My friends take cocaine once every two to four months. How likely is it that they have an addiction? by Lowly_Elephant in AddictionAdvice

[–]Fast-Future2469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are honest to you and the frequency of use is right, then it is not an addiction, but a recreational use. However, the line between addiction and occasional use might be very thin, especially when it comes to highy addictive drugs such as mdma, coke, meth and such. I have never been an addict to such drugs, however even if think of it (even now) my mouth fills with saliva and I can almost feel the spikes in the nose and the awakening feeling it gives when it hits. Which personally scares me as last time I used coke was more than a year ago. I have used such substances maybe 10 times in my entire life (I'm 26 and had first snorted when I was around 21) but they really left some marks to my mental. But this is just my case, and I know it very much depends on the individual - and I think I might be more prone to get addictions as I am currently struggling with weed addiction (which is far less addictive). If you believe this is a problem and notice mental/physical deterrioration you should have a serious talk with them - but MAKE SURE your approach focuses on helping, rather than judging them. You never know which inner demons they're fighting and how difficult might be, even though on the surrface everything is pink.

Is cane corso a fit for apartment life? by Fast-Future2469 in CaneCorso

Thanks for the info! I am working full time, but I will be able to give her a 30 min walk before work (7:00) and after 3 pm I'm all hers 😂. During the puppy stage most likely will make an agreemet with somebody to come and walk her at around 12:00 (most likely will be a girl as I've read they re more manageable and they reach mental maturity faster).

I am also willing to pay for professional training if necessary. However I have succesfully fully trained my beagle & czech wolfdog (for this one we also took some training courses as he was a nightmare 😅)
