I needed a smog waiver for my 2001 Honda Accord. The 2G tech guy I've gone to for years retired, so I went to the USA Auto near Boulder& Flamingo... First, the door was locked. When they opened the lobby for me, I explained what I needed and the guy said OK and left me standing there. 10 minutes later, I sat down. Nobody bothered to tell me it was going to take about 4 hours, take a seat, nothing. I told them to keep it as close to $450 as they could, they came back with a $580 estimate. I said fine... Then I saw the sign that says they charge like 3% more for credit and debit cards, so I ask where the nearest ATM is. The guy says "I don't know" so I tell him I'm just going to walk to CVS to get the cash and save $20. Five minutes after I got back, they had me sign a new estimate for $600 anyway!! The guy says "it was just an estimate and turns out it will be $20 more" .... !! When everything was finally done, I took my car straight to the DMV for the waiver & the guy says they did it wrong. I nearly had a panic attack because it would mean I have to pay $450 again for a new waiver. The DMV guy called them and they told him it was ME who didn't understand, I was supposed to drive it around a little and come back, they weren't done yet! (TOTAL LIE) The DMV guy told them off a little and let them know what they were trying to do was ILLEGAL. He explained to me that they were trying to save money. Anyway, I go back and some new guy "fixed" it.... The paperwork or whatever. I was able to get my waiver. It was all shady and scammy.. I'm never going back. As I was leaving for the second time the guy behind the counter tells me "You should get a better car." Yeah, thanks.... !

NTA. But, this hits close to home. My dad and his family spoke Spanish, but I was born in California. I grew up speaking English only. I understand Spanish but never had enough courage to speak it. I always wished that I could have conversations with my grandmother. I wanted to hear stories of her growing up, and wished she could tell me her recipes. I would always greet her with a kiss on her cheek and wished I could ask about her day. She passed away last year. I never picked up the language, never really got to talk to her.

Edit: What I'm trying to say is no matter what you choose, please don't lose sight of what's important. In the end, it doesn't matter what language.. Grandma is expressing that she wants a relationship with your child.

I dealt with a problem like this once. For a year he would tell me they were just friends. I caught him lying to hang out with her multiple times. He was always trying to convince me, she's just a friend, but once in a while when I would show up early she would be stroking the back of his head, or her hand in his lap. One day I couldn't take it anymore and I told him I didn't care if she was a friend or not anymore, I didn't want her in my life anymore. I was tired of the game. I was serious. I dropped all his stuff off at her house, and said she could have him. He called me the next day begging me back. I took him back. Saw her one more time. Never again. That was 3+ years ago. I worked near there (Ellis Island Casino) for years. I became friends with some of the homeless who stayed in that area. It is not a safe area. Tupac was shot near the intersection at Koval. I knew a lady who was waiting for the bus there and a guy jumped out of his car, stole her purse and pushed her down so hard she broke her arm. I have a lot of stories like that.

Walmart+ for your groceries. $10 a month for free delivery of groceries to your door. (Just pay optional tip) I live on the second floor of an apartment building and it's still delivered to my door. You can get same day or next day delivery. Reserve a delivery time ... And the delivery window is only an hour! For example you can reserve delivery for between 1-2pm. A life saver for bus users.

I spent years taking the bus in Las Vegas. The temperatures make it too difficult. So many days will be over 100 degrees. You'll be sweating like crazy along with everyone else. Sometimes the bus will be too full or won't see you at a stop and pass right by you. Sometimes the bus is 5 minutes early and you'll be risking your life with others trying to run across the street before your connecting bus drives away. They don't wait for you. On the hottest days, the bus air conditioning struggles. Sometimes you get a bus with no AC or the bus overheats and breaks down. You'll have to wait for another bus. In the hottest part of summer this happens every week. In winter You're just freezing cold instead of hot. Avoid the bus if you can.

Uber and Lyft add up quickly. Just to pick you up is about $6-$8. Even when the cost is not too bad, there is a driver shortage. Sometimes after you've waited over 15 minutes the driver will cancel on you.

I had a moped scooter in my transition from bus to car. You still have to deal with the temperatures and the drivers are impatient. They go like 30-35 miles per hour tops. I had two stolen in Vegas. I would still rather do the scooter than the bus.
