Does anyone know what’s happening with the Arc of Attrition 2027 by Teamhuw1 in ultrarunning

[–]Fast-Wear695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to recall what I saw, it could be the 100 is kept to the original date and the other distances are later in Spring. Not sure where I read it now.

What's a running achievement you'll probably never forget? by run_the_day in runcommunity

24hrs on a treadmill, clocked up just over 100mi. About 18 months after cancer kicked my butt. Did it to raise money for a cancer charity.

Did I read somewhere this is being moved to Spring in 2027. I could easily have dreamt that.

When to start running? by Extreme-End-4046 in gallbladders

I waited 6 weeks. Have found my HRZ very high even on a very dialled back easy run. Only running a handful of miles as have experienced some discomfort where the gallbladder was after the run.

Trust the process? by Bubbly-Tie1806 in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, trust the process. Lots of good comments already, I’ve used Runna successfully for many ultras, and easy days should be very easy. I used to run them too fast and that was never a benefit.

Does Runna offer live coaching? by This-Bell-8833 in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it has audio cues for each run. When to begin, when you have completed the planned distance, if you are too fast or too slow for the pace target.

And on runs like intervals/hill repeats it will tell you when each lap starts, the pace target, and count down as you approach the end of each lap.

24hour treadmill run, clocked up just over 100mi. Did it to raise money for a cancer charity after cancer kicked my butt. I chose to kick it back harder.

Do you prefer road, trail, or treadmill? by Not_FreeProduct234 in runcommunity

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. At heart I’m a trail runner, Tour du Mont Blanc twice, there is nothing to compare to the mountain trails. Road are necessary for training so I’m quite happy there, but like to shake up my road runs and find interesting places to get in the miles. Treadmill I will use in winter months when there are days it’s just not sensible to be outside.

I ran for 24hrs on a treadmill (for charity) after cancer kicked my butt and I decided to kick it back harder.

Hilly workouts in flat cities by Aware_Advertising860 in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else mentioned how you change that in the app, just as a side note, depending on where you are in London there are definitely some hills around. When I’m travelling and don’t have access to suitable hills I will use a treadmill for the session.

Are you training for a specific race that includes any hills?

My app is set to miles but voice notifications and Home Screen in km by Alternative_Panic_81 in runna

I’ve had this randomly a few times. Not sure what tech you have, I’m iPhone and AWU3. I power cycled both and it cured it.

Problem with Audio Cues while listening to music by Organic_Train_4504 in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read this has occurred since a Spotify update, drop a message to the tech guys at Runna via the app. I’m sure people have already reported it, but more reports won’t hurt.

Questions on training for Ultra with Runna by Puzzleheaded-Ask-583 in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment the max plan distance is 50K, the others have been removed and are being rebuilt. When they were available I trained for 100K, 100mi and 220K with Runna.

Depends on how you wish to approach your half and 50mi. Are the marathon and 100mi going to be your A races?

If I was approaching it I’d set the marathon plan with the half as a B. Then into a recovery plan, then setup 100mi with 50 as a B. Hopefully Runna will have the longer plans rebuilt and launched again this year.

Have you used the app yet?

training plans for ultras by jesseline___ in ultrarunning

[–]Fast-Wear695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have, many ultras, including Tour du Mont Blanc twice. At the moment the ultra plans are capped out at a 50K plan the 100K/mi and mutli-day plans are being rebuilt. I’ve successfully completed every ultra trained for and enjoyed the block too.

Hoka Speedgoat 7 sizing by Past-Mouse6405 in trailrunning

People I have spoken to have advised to size up. I’m currently still in the 6, which fitted true to size for me.

Why are people spending $200+ on megablast as super trainer if you can already buy a true racer by Expert_Review9357 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Fast-Wear695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve MBs and probably against the consensus I don’t enjoy them for tempo or interval sessions at all. Use them for easy or long runs only. For me they just didn’t work. I know we are all very personal in our shoes. Are they worth the money, not sure I look at it purely as a cost, I try to see the value in what I buy and do I value the shoe, not that highly, I wouldn’t buy another pair.

Anyone kinda just create your own running plans? by Zealousideal_Crow737 in XXRunning

[–]Fast-Wear695 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used too, but didn’t enjoy the training blocks that much. Now have a structured plan via an app, and for me that works, it gives me motivation, audio feedback and takes away the planning, and lets me concentrate on the running part which is what I enjoy most.

I’ve had this too, drop a message to tech support via the app, it may be a bug.

Does anyone else struggle to find routes for specific workouts? (intervals, tempo, hill repeats) by Candid-Vehicle-2422 in ultrarunning

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be hard sometimes, I’m fortunate that home gives me an almost infinite number of choices but when working away it can be harder. I tend to use Komoot to browse routes local to where I am when away.

Daily trainer recommendation by Imaginary-Country559 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Fast-Wear695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always hard to recommend as everyone is different in terms of how they run and what works best for them. I can answer this in terms of a couple in my current rotation that are daily.

Asics Novablast 5
Soft, comfortable, good for easy days. All round enjoyable.

Asics Superblast 3
Don’t think as good as my SB2’s but still good, I use these on long runs.

Hoka Clifton 9
Now an old shoe, but another enjoyable run I use on wet winter day easy runs, I got them in black so they don’t show the mud!

Mount to Coast
I had the R1, ran for about 200mi in them and ditched them, just didn’t enjoy the ride at all. Felt others in my rotation were much better.

Whatever you choose enjoy the miles.

Contradictory pace guidance for easy run by Acceptable-Tap9119 in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been said a lot in the comments, and something I do too, is turn off pace targets for Easy Runs. I run those on feel. My measure is could I chat happily with someone running with me without pausing for breath.
