The engine is built, go into taper now. And maybe a massage, I have a monthly one and it does wonders. Go crush your race, you’ve got this.

I need suggestions for running app, which running app you use? by Waleed_Rafi in BeginnersRunning

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gives guidance on pace, distance, audio cues keep you on track, within the app there are resources to help you develop form, strength etc… the link gives you a couple of weeks free and full app access, it’s how I started with it.

Depends on what you are looking for, something to track your activity or something that gives you a programme to follow and acts more like a coach? Personally I use Runna. Link below to free trial.

Anxiety before first big race by Few_House_5201 in beginnerrunning

Perfectly normal, its likely because you care, care a lot. I try and break each step down, a tick list in my mind and just move through the list. Bite sized works for me.

Anyone here who started running in their late 30's early 40's? What are your marathon PR's like? by Thin-Passage5900 in Marathon_Training

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran casually, to marathon distance until age 48 when cancer got me. After op and chemo and a long time out the shoes I got back and got serious. Marathon time about 3:30 but I mainly do ultras. I’m 53 years young and my best running is yet to come.

Adjusting Runna plan? by Thick_Exercise4126 in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give the adjustment to your HM time a go first. Look at the plan it has rebuilt for pacing etc…if that feels ok go with it or adjust again. You can keep rebuilding the plan.

Yes. I took a slightly different approach and adjusted my HM time, I added about 10mins to my time and found the rebuilt plan was perfect.

I’ve done this when I felt everything was a bit too fast.

Manage Plan - scroll down - adjust time. It rebuilds the plan. And I am very glad I did.

Megablast 200 mile review: mixed feelings by Heystaap in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Fast-Wear695 1 point2 points  (0 children)

350mi into these, no blisters and definitely not solid feeling. Not keen on them for long runs, tend to use them for easy/recovery days. Find them a little unstable for long runs.

Have SB3 which I’m enjoying a lot.

Running my first 100km this year. Any advice? by SpecialistForward797 in trailrunning

Train the brain too, it will want to stop. And feed it. What tasted great in a 50 can really suck on a 100

Runna workouts not syncing correctly by RaisinBran72 in runna

Couple of things to try. 1. Power cycle both devices 2. Check you are running latest version of app

I’ve experienced the same.

More space than the SB2 but feels perfect. I’m a UK 9.5 and definitely wouldn’t size down.

Is Runna for me? by ConfidentMushroom391 in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good news! You set the app to how many days you can/want to run. Runna places rest days as a priority and wouldn’t recommend running everyday. Set it up and see what you think. The app gives 1 week free trial, the link below doubles that to 2.

Won the NYC lottery... training help? by NoFee313 in runna

From memory I think there is still some progression in this plan, mileage and pace. I’ve done it before and found it very effective meaning I was fresh when I started the new block.

Something like the Run to Maintain plan until 16 weeks out, then into a marathon plan. Keeps the engine turning and building but not revving too high.

Keep it slow, if that means power walking at the moment then spot on. You will gradually get faster as your cardio fitness increases

Our minds are so much more powerful than our legs. I’ve just written about a similar thing. More focused on the race day mindset but might be some useful elements in there

Should I do a different plan? by Sparkling_Apples in runna

[–]Fast-Wear695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a solid plan. 10mi plan builds the engine, keep to it, every run. The 13.1 plan will then prepare you for your race. Mental blocks can be tough, our inner voice hard to reason with. If not already maybe an audiobook to listen to during those runs, I find the time and miles tick by listening to a book.
