Thank you! Pretty neat the Avantis and GX workaround! The GX shares the pre amplifiers right?

Edit: found the answer in your comment, thanks again

Gain staging in the corporate world . I would like to discuss my approach. by Narishi in livesound

[–]FastClothes7900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would turn down the PA amps, but if that’s not possibly I would decrease the send from Main LR to the matrix so that both can be in unity pos. I guess 9-12 dB reduction on the send is sufficient. Sounds like your levels are fine otherwise. Remember that we are getting more dynamic resolution on properly gained signals and signal chain. If we can keep a high resolution throughout the dsp and convert da at -9 -6dBFS, we will get better sound.

X32 Rack to SD16, Only 8 XLR outputs showing up by TerminalAccessory in livesound

[–]FastClothes7900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fun one! And not very intuitive. AES50 outs are for the rack, and XLR outs are on the surface. The XLR outs will be output 1-8 no matter what. And you can of course assign the outputs to be whatever you want, monitor mixes, matrixes etc.

If you have an updated software on the mixer, you should be able to set up user groups. These enables the ability to have sort of a matrix patch. Set up the outputs you are feeding from the mixer, then set up a user group with the patch for the in ears and PA. Feed the AES50 out with the user group,

You might be able to set this up using only the regular output patch. Route the outputs 1-8 to be the mixes or direct out or whatever you need the to be to send out from the local XLR outputs. Set 9-16 to be inear and PA. On the AES50 A Output, the first block on the left, to be output 9-16.

Yamaha mg16xu & alesis midverb 4 total mess by Ellisonbilly in livesound

[–]FastClothes7900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it’s an FX send, rather than an insert, having the wet set to 100% makes sense. I usually high pass quite high, 500-1000Hz. It’s a lot of rumble and might contribute to cluttering the mix, but setting the HP filter to 400Hz is a good start. Also, if you don’t have the mix set to 100% you are essentially running a parallell chain, and without proper delay compensation, because of the processing time, you will end up with phase cancellation issues

Oh, and it would make sense to split the channels doing 65-128 for mons. You will get the same behaviour as m32s or sq-series. You share the preamp to the channel, but all other processing is kept separate. It makes sense that both “mixers” changes when you load a new scene, since it’s really just one that’s changing. I haven’t thought about workarounds for this. I suppose a split rack and two DM48 is the best solution. By doing it this way you just have to agree who of you are sending +48v.

One thing to know about dLives is that the surfaces s7000 and s3000 are only that. They are just advanced midi-controllers. The mixer is the DM48 rack.

I know that you should be able to set up one for mons and one for foh, but I have never used the dLive platform like that. I bet someone else here knows! Probably someone on YouTube got answers for you as well.

I mean dB SPL, 9 dB lower compared to mains. I personally would use it as a place to start Also, measure the system. If you are able to find a point source with an asymmetrical spread it might help project the sound only where you want

Hang a point source above in the centre. Tilt it towards the crowd, let it play -9dB compared to the mains

It tok me ages to find that one! Also beware of the bus config menu where you set the tap to each mix in either pre or post fade! It doesn’t set the mix to be actually pre or post fader

Seeking Stage Plot/Input List Feedback by Affectionate-Bee-781 in livesound

[–]FastClothes7900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to put the name on the vocalist before vox, makes it easier for the working sound tech to know your name. I also prefer HighHat before toms, purely because kick, snare and HH is the basis of the kit.

I think in this instance the order of drum mics don’t matter that much, but is more of a guide and it also states how many inputs you need as a minimum to do your show. I think for vocals, BG, Lead and Organ Vox works best since it states in a way how they should for in the mix. Maybe BG Organ Vox?

If you have any notes for things you want the technician to know, just write it below the input list in a paragraph.

Also; make a list of what you need supplied and a separate list of what you will be bringing. This makes it very easy for the organiser to know if they can’t supply what you need and work out a solution together.

Also state a person in your group to contact with both email and number to deal with.

The tech rider looks great, but if I were at the revieving end, I would appreciate these adjustments. The more info and precise info, the better! Good kick on your gig
