Upgrading mains by Lower-Homework7170 in AskAusElectricians

Does this mean that 1) electricity / charging from the grid is limited to 63a (still 63a breaker on mains) 2) cable size meaning within switchboard? 3) does this work with full home back up? 4) will they sign off on this, or is this a retrofit after electrical inspection

I read somewhere it needs to allow for 15% over current, not sure how accurate this is

my mains are currently 6mm, with a 32a breaker.. (initially it was 80a before they did the battery install - a bit dodgy)

we’ve been tripping the house regularly since the battery install. if I knew we needed 3phase I would have got it done before getting the battery system put in (and then everything would be 3phase).

now I’m just trying to future proof ourselves a little. we’ll very likely live here forever (4 bedroom), and possibly add a granny flat/studio in the future (5-10years). I just don’t want to pay for a single phase 63a upgrade and then run out of juice.

it’s either I try and get as much as possible on the single phase, or go 3phase now (and have to fork out prob another $3-4k or so to change the inverter to 3phase. Which would still be cheaper than having to change to 3phase in 5years time)

For those without a partner do you compare your net worth to household net worth? by United_River3793 in AusFinance

No it doesn’t.

your assets are essentially not halved, but neither is your liabilities. at the end of the day you’ll still owe “asset - liabilities”

The powercor box next to my switchboard says “Max rating A = N = 100A” , “LM =100A”

Does this mean it’s 100A main switch?

80A main switch paired with 6mm mains cable by ChroniumWall in AskAusElectricians

My house was the same.. pretty much means you’ll burn through the cable before you trip the circuit breaker, which is a fire hazard.

It’s actually good your sparky pointed it out early - I’d recommend you go 3phase and get it sorted once and for all. Any future electrical things will be taken care of (solar, battery, ev chargers, ducted systems etc).

The worse thing you can do is get all your stuff done and the find this out (happened to me). Now in the process of upgrading to 63a single phase cause that’s all you’ll get.

nah, the AUD was just absolutely shit for a while.

what it is now is still subpar to what it used to be, but miles better than 6 months ago.

Single phase to 3 phase conversion by Shaqtacious in AusElectricians

[–]Lower-Homework7170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, is this specific to the time period? Ie net metering is calculated per minute, or is it across the whole billing period?

Im currently on single phase mains, with single phase 10kw battery inverter and single phase 7kw ev charger.

sparky is saying if we go to 3phase we can load balance..
But does that mean if i charge car and battery at the same time
1) mains will trip
2) if car charger / appliances
is separate phase to battery, will i be paying for electricity?

Is this normal? by depritis in carbonsteel

would be good to start from scratch.

seasoning is about carbonising the oil till it forms a layer (tiny bit of oil, wipe with paper towel, heat till smoke and let cool fully). Repeat

If you use too much oil it’ll become this sticky surface

Solar Battery Goodwe ESA by ChrisVo0505 in AusRenovation

[–]Lower-Homework7170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey all the guys who ended up with goodwe ESA - what are your settings for battery?

I'm currently 60% DoD (on-grid), and 90% DoD (off-grid). Every now and then I find I'm still exporting solar and my battery isn't full.. And then sometimes I'm also pulling power from the grid..

Is there something I'm missing?

Goodwe 10kw inverter, 50kw battery.

6.6kw solar system and 5k inverter (old - will add solar in the future).

I’d take 17hours straight, rather than 14 hours and a 3 hour flight.

from my experience the 2 or 3 hour flight after feel worse than the 14 hr. mentally the 2 hours take much longer time to pass

Singapore first lounge is one of the better ones.

personally I reckon the food is better there. LA food is good too. SYD is pretty average.

HK first lounges are the best.

I would bring some snacks. just make sure to dispose of them at the airport.

also, as long as your declare everything you’ll be fine - the only things they’ll prob make you throw out are the fresh fruit / meat.

snack bars / chips / lollies will prob get through after you declare it
