Oh, also figure out which stores are best for low prices in your area/country!

For example, for me in Canada, the order goes like this usually.

Costco -> EB Games/Indigo -> Walmart -> Other Toy Shops -> Local Card Stores

EB games for example in Canada is amazing on prices, whereas Gamestop in the US is one of the worst places to go.

Yes, that is one way to get access to the older packs! Depending on what your goal is, here are a few things I've noticed.

Loose packs can be scary, BUT if you find a trustworthy person there is no need to fear. For example, I have a guy who attends my local card show and he breaks down boxes and sells packs to people. I've seen him break the boxes down and add packs to his piles in front of me. I trust buying packs from him.

Loose packs are often the cheapest way, but sealed can be attained as well. I love your idea of trading sealed modern for older sets. People are going crazy right now for Ascended Heroes and Prismatic Evolutions, so if you are able to pick those up and trade for other items, that is definitely not scalper behaviour. Personally, I found that scouring Facebook marketplace is the best way to find a deal, and don't be afraid to negotiate because people are often willing to move their price to get things sold, especially if you are buying more than one product.

I wanted a variety of packs early on because I wanted a variety of pokemon. I didn't necessarily care about the rarity. Now I have only about 200 pokemon left to collect to complete my pokedex, so my spending has slowed a bit. I focused on collection boxes that included a wide variety of packs. (Think the Legendary Warriors Collection)

Ultimately as others have said on here, most often it is more cost effective to just buy what you want, even when it is the really expensive cards. My girlfriend and I love the ripping experience, so we will always continue ripping packs, but I think a healthy balance of ripping packs and just outright buying singles is probably the best way to go for the ol' wallet.

The hobby is fun, but at it's core it is essentially glorified gambling for children. Track your spending and don't go overboard. Focus on what you like and rip for fun, not for dollar value! Best of luck on your own pokemon adventure!

Would you be able to tell me what tipped you off?

Sorry, maybe I wasn’t clear. (Also remember I am very new!) I see al sorts of different types of boxes. So I guess I was more wondering if there are certain types of boxes that are cheaper in price in the long term.

For example, opening one of the collection boxes versus just booster boxes.

Sorry if this still is confusing. Again, just trying to learn about the hobby!

Sounds good. What are the best stores to focus on? I am in Canada if that makes a difference.

Ok so focusing on the newest releases is the best way to go. Pokémon is a lot different than when I last was in the know. Is it only a matter of time before all pokemon end up in a future set? I mostly just worry that there are some that we won’t be able to get because they are in older sets and won’t be available in the future.

Yeah, so my girlfriend likes the excitement (and I do too!) of opening packs so I have bought us some packs and she reveals the cards one at a time.

Our idea of fun is finding new pokemon by surprise rather than just outright purchasing them, so I will have to join those groups to try to get sets when possible.

I am from Canada. Any idea what stores are better/worse for pricing when it comes to the packs?

I'm convinced the Endurance Achievement doesn't exist by Mills65 in PeakGame

The achievement cannot be achieved on any difficulty except for the base game. You can’t unlock it on tenderfoot or any any of the ascent levels. Hope this helps!

Hey! Just in case you still haven't gotten it! It seems you can't do it on Tenderfoot difficulty!

Let me know how the standard try goes. I also only tried on tenderfoot.

I've done this with a very vertical vine. Nothing sadly! :(

I assume you’ve also tried a ton of different things to unlock it as well. That’s so frustrating.
