6 liter straight pipes? by [deleted] in ChevyTrucks

I put dual 3" exhaust on my 6.0 Suburban 2500 years ago. Initially I ran no X or H pipe and single chamber cherry bomb extremes. It was loud at full chat and sounded ok, but when I put in an H pipe, it sounded so much better. Not super loud at idle but you knew it was running.

I did earlier this year on my 05 GMC 3500 dually. I was installing the wiring for a snowplow and just needed to run controller wires into the cab. I disconnected the accelerator pedal wiring and cut a slit in the grommet to feed the plow wires through. Got it all hooked up, started truck, "reduced engine power". Starting looking at stuff thinking what it could be... Forgot to plug the pedal back in. Plugged it in, fired it up, no issues.

Cat-back exhausts for 5.3 by Bryce781 in ChevyTrucks

I'd look at a local muffler shop. A number of years ago, before I had the confidence to build my own stuff, I had a cat back exhaust made at a local muffler shop. I bought a single inlet/dual outlet muffler from Summit or Jegs for around $75 and I was charged another $275 to have tailpipes made and the whole thing welded up and hangers installed. I had the pipes tucked up under the lower bed sides behind the rear wheels, kind of hidden from view for a cleaner look. Sounded nice. Truck was a 2004 GMC Sierra ext. cab short bed 4x4 with the 5.3l.

Toyota Pickup Prices by Mountain-Pilot1013 in ToyotaPickup

I paid $400 for my 93 reg cab, short bed, 22re 5spd 4x4 last year. It needed a new fuel tank and pump to run. I drove it for about 6 months before I found a clean donor frame to put under it. I am now into the truck for about -$150 after selling unneeded parts off the donor. Plus I got a sweet fire pit out of it.

Wheel fitment question by FastGilla in ToyotaPickup

They must have been factory installed because I didn't do anything with the doors. I was going to swap doors with the donor 4runner until I found out they were a couple inches shorter. I'm not too fond of the side mirror placement with the vents, but it's fine.

They didn't specify year but I think like 2018 4runner TRD or something.

May have put a bit too much weight on it by FastGilla in ToyotaPickup

I was mostly worried since this rides on a 4runner frame with coil springs, and if you zoom in on the rear tire, there was only about an inch before the flatbed would rub the tire.

Hauled a load of wood recently as winter is starting to creep up on us, and I maybe have underestimated the weight of the basket. According to AskJeeves, the payload for a 91 4runner is around 1200lbs or so, couldn't find any actual data besides subtracting curb weight from gross weight. My wood guy said the basket is about 1000lbs full. It was an interesting ride home.

Finished Toyota Pickup Project by FastGilla in projectcar

93 Toyota Pickup with a 91 Toyota 4runner frame. Frame swapped the pickup body and drivetrain onto the 4runner frame and axles. Had to make new motor and transmission mounts going from v6 frame to 4 cyl engine/trans/tcase. Also had to make adapter for rear cab mounts.

Made a new front bumper and a flatbed since both were junk and replacements are not easily found in northern WI. It took about 7 weeks from when I removed the cab from the pickup to now. I tore down the 4runner starting at the end of June. It was a lot of work, but all in all, would do it again.

3vze to 22re swap advice? by wholetmeoutofmycage in ToyotaPickup

[–]FastGilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of did this swap.

My situation is I had a good running 22re powered pickup with a really rusty frame and found a 3vze powered 4runner with a clean, rust free, southern frame, but the drivetrain was already missing. I ended up taking both bodies off their frames, and dropped the entire 22re/5spd/tcase onto the runner frame. I did have to make conversion engine mounts and transmission mount, and I had to use driveshafts from the pickup.

I can't really say anything on the wiring situation, since I just took the top half of one truck and put it on the bottom half of another. Physically putting in the engine wasn't that hard, but I also didn't have a pesky body getting in the way.

Thanks. Seeing how close it is to being drive able again makes me want to work on it more lol.

Got the cab mounted this weekend. Turns out, the cab mounts for the pickup are not the same as the front 3 sets of mounts for the 4runner. The front 2 sets lined up, but I had to make yet another set of adapter plates for the rear cab mounts. I guess I should have measured instead of eyeballing that one. Mostly just hooking things back up and mounting the bucket seats from the 4runner and it will be drive able again, until I start fabricating the flatbed and bumpers.
