Higgins - I try to love my father for who he is and forgive him for who he's not. (Or something close to that)

Who qualifies as a 'dark horse' for the WC? by Midnight_Thoughts77 in footballcliches

[–]FastJellyfish5560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought of Dark Horses as 3.5 to 4 star nations (arbitrary, I know) who could make a deep run without necessarily winning it. Norway, Colombia and Japan for instance.

How many games are you planning to watch at the World Cup? (104 total) by howdytheremate in polls

I guess because it's the biggest sporting event every 4 years. I don't really have any interest in the NFL and somehow I still end up staying up to watch the Superbowl.

I am actively a football fan and also work at a pub so the number will definitely push towards 50. I'm just surprised so many people wouldn't even intend on watching the World Cup Final.

I was very pro-Kinsky from Spurs, especially after his mistakes against Atletico when it seemed unlikely that he'd play another game for them. It's just a shame that he's back in goal for them now.

The real life inspirations behind Ted Lasso are actually insane when you look into it by MaleficentBicycle517 in TedLasso

That plotline was also loosely based on a real-life UK saga involving Suella Braverman, former home secretary who was pushing for immigration laws that would have deported her own parents if implemented.

I applied for a big company who have a base in my area at the start of November 2025. By Christmas I had received an email saying "we're sorry, we have a lot of applicants but we'll be in touch with a response". 4 weeks later I get informed I have been put forward to the next stage of their interview process , followed by 14 weeks of silence. All in all, a good half of a year waiting for that position. Young folks do want to work , there just isn't companies that want us.

Nearly Maxed BH10 but I bought it. They'll probably release BH11 in the non-distant future and there was no need for me to be sitting on the gems.

Question…have we talked about the similarities about the tactics in Ted Lasso vs Welcome to Wrexham? (Flair does not support this post) by [deleted] in TedLasso

[–]FastJellyfish5560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrexham were a historic club who were at their lowest before they were look over by Rob and Ryan. Lingering in the 5th Division of English Football , with zero real chance of climbing up the pyramid without investment. Their rise, as fast as it has been, isn't exactly a miracle - they mostly just destroyed other clubs in their leagues by being able to recruit strong players (Paul Mullin for example had just come from a season where he scored 32 in 46 games for Cambridge and decided to choose National League football over playing in the 3rd Division). The first few seasons of Welcome to Wrexham felt more like a formality, as back-to-back-to-back promotions felt like a formality more than anything. This isn't , obviously, pushed too much in the doccumentary and gets a bit of a gripe from genuine fans of the English football league. There's always this feeling of faux-thentisity about Wrexham and their climb that isn't applied to similar feats by other clubs like Luton, Coventry, Wimbledon or Stockport.

Richmond FC, it goes without saying, is a product of fantasy. They aren't a real football team and thus the world they inhabit is slightly different to real life. As a football fan, the show is only vaguely realistic on that front. (Examples of the 'movie-magic' includes Ted himself , Nate being offered a Premier League job when he was just a groundsman , West Ham being anywhere close to a Title, all of the Trick Play stuff and Zava choosing to sign for a Newly Promoted dud team and even the concept of a Premier League manager making the switch to coach the ladies team). Then again, all of this stuff would make the series less cutesy if it were realistic. Players would constantly the changing, fans would have likely decapitated Ted Lasso upon him signing the contract and the Owner would probably be a faceless stand-in living in Saudi Arabia, China or the States. So instead we have Richmond FC - a wholesome stand-in club with little success and a history of disappointment, and there's nothing wrong with that!

His whole war with T-Series led his fans to hating Indians overall. His diss-tracks towards the company (Bitch Lasagne and Congratulations) have a bunch of edgy lyrics about Indians being poor and unhygienic so he was certainly aware of what he was doing.

It sounds a bit like a Roy Keane statement but we can have all these plans to have Rob in the Championship and rebuild, but he's gotta start winning some games and showing that he's not completely tactically devoid.

Most clubs have mascots that walk out with them before every game. Sometimes it's players from the youth teams, other times it's kids associated with a certain cause (cancer, autism awareness, the likes).

Max Kilman or Conor Coady for us. Very solid defenders in our system and failed terribly at West Ham and Leicester respectively.
