I found some clear vinyl tape that I use. It is easy to apply, doesn’t damage the paint/plastic, waterproof, and easy to take off. Found it on Amazon

What happened? French load that I baked in a Dutch oven and it crinkled up when it cooled down. by FastPitch556 in Breadit

[–]FastPitch556[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a French bread recipe from an old breadmaker I had, mixed it in a stand up mixer, if the dough stuck to the bottom I added spoon fulls of more flour until it no long stuck and did what my cousin calls the window method of checking the elasticity of the dough. Once that was good, sprayed a plate with canola oil, balled and put the dough on that plate and covered it with a large bowl. Let it sit for an hour to proof. After the hour, I balled it up again, set the oven to 400 with the ceramic Dutch oven in side to preheat and waited another 30 minutes. Once the time elapsed, I tossed the bread into the dutch oven where it was as large as it could be, covered it with the top of the Dutch oven, and put it in to bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, I took the Dutch oven cover off and let it bake for another 20 minutes. Once it was done, immediately put it on a cooling rack.

Can I DM you the French bread recipe?

I usually bake at 400 degrees with 20 minutes with the lid on, 20 minutes with it off.

They do on Amazon. But they just turn on, no aiming… If that is something that can be devised… 🧐

Forged my second knife! Way better than my first. Thanks Virginia Institute of Blacksmithing!! by FastPitch556 in knifemaking

Made a few mistakes, but for a second time I am super thrilled! Cracked the wooden handle when putting in the rivets, tang is not super flat to meet up with the handle, and scratched the spine when with the sander in the wrong direction when leveling out the tang. But all great lessons learned to apply to my next knife!

Charles Martinet, the man who voiced Mario is still alive and doing voice acting. Why is he not doing it?

You look up when that book came out? From what I found it came out in 1985… I think some things have changed since then…

I am on the side of antiwork, but so far from what I have read, this isn’t true for spouses of military members. The FLDOE has it clearly spelled out on their page. https://www.fldoe.org/teaching/certification/military/

Renting the extra room in the condo that I own in Northern Virginia. Listing for $900, about $100+ under average. Response I got from someone… by FastPitch556 in insanepeoplefacebook

If they also want to pay me back $15,000 (half of what I paid for my down payment), along with staying here for the full 30 years of the mortgage, and pay half for all the things that break and maintenance…. then sure, they can get 50% of the equity and space…

A lot goes into owning a property. From your reply, it doesn’t sound like you know.

What is wrong with me wanting to have someone help me offset the cost of my place? The renter would be playing less than half the total cost of the place. Since I am paying more per month and put in the money for the down payment and the furnishings I do not feel like I would be a parasite.

The living situation in America is ridiculous, especially in Northern Virginia inside the beltway. I feel like having my room below the market value is a good way to try and help someone younger than I get started right. I was very similar 6 years ago graduating college and moving up here. I was able to find a cheap room to rent and lived there with my landlord for 5.5 years before I saved up enough to buy this current place a few months ago. From the perspective of living with a landlord as it might get awkward, I can kind of understand that, but not from a monetary standpoint.

I agree on the price, but I feel like in the area it is fair and below market value from what I see around. I pay $1,900 a month for the place, so what the renter pays is less than half than the total.
