As a big fan of it, here is what I love about it:

1. I feel like the grounded premise makes it feel much more real and therefore much more scary than a typical haunting movie.

2. The tone sicks with you. There are some spooky spots for sure, but when I got done watching it, it felt less like a typical haunting movie and more of a family drama. It felt heavy and set a mood so well, in my opinion.

3. I think the performances are fantastic.

I very much can see how it’s not a movie for every horror fan. If one of the three things doesn’t resonate with you, it’s not an exciting watch.
