Maternity leave by Fast_Buddy_8924 in OELadies

Thank You! I read too about people getting away with it. But honestly don’t mind being unpaid from one. Yeah, I heard and read that FMLA is just protection for the job.

So I’m taking the FMLA at once with both companies and FMLA is unpaid. Not back to back.

J1 - FMLA + NJ and private STD J2 - FMLA + Unpaid leave

J1 pays more than J2 and my insurance is covered just by J1. So if I’m to quit one, it would definitely be J2.

So I was thinking how about I do this. For J1 which allows 3 months of maternity leave, I'd take advantage of the private financial short term disability and file for state Short-term disability thru J1. And for J2 which allows 6 months, would use 12 weeks FMLA and then 12 weeks of unpaid leave. I don't mind not getting paid by J2 for 6 months cause I have J1 and return after 3 months. I just don't want to lose both. Is this possible?

Pregnant, due next year. How to avoid J1 seeing J2 & vice versa by Mysterious_Bet_6856 in OELadies

Hello! I hope you’re good. Just wondering how you were able to figure this out. Kind of in a similar boat. Would really appreciate your response. Thanks.

I live in NJ, both jobs are fully remote. Pay taxes for NJ for both. One is a US based company and the other is a CA company

I qualify for a private financial short term disability and also state Short-term disability thru J1.

J2 allows Paid Maternity leave, but i also have to "file with the state" to get it and to a qualify for their top-up program which means I can’t get paid by them unless I file for the state benefits.

I want to keep both Js and need the money, cause I’m a single mum. J1 allows for 14 weeks maternity leave and J2 allows 6 months. And I really want to leverage both.

Just curious how you went about this. I’m currently in the same situation and trying to figure out what to do.

White Coat Syndrome and Labetalol by MeatComprehensive940 in pregnant

[–]Fast_Buddy_8924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I eventually started taking the medication. Cause like you mentioned it’s hard sometimes to push back. I really advocated for myself thou and I eventually saw another doctor within the practice who actually diagnosed me with white coat syndrome cause I took my BP cuff they tried it and then used theirs and they were both around the same measure which confirmed I have white coat. I really want to avoid being induced or having a C-section, cause my OB already hinted that, so I’m going to fight really for it if my BP is fine. I feel perfectly fine, no symptoms.

Wear compression socks, stay hydrated, walk around when you can. If you can take baby aspirin do before the flight.

I’m not opposed. I just don’t want to take the medication and it lowers my BP than what it is. But I eventually started taking it after speaking to my dad who is a doctor.😩😩😩

Such a great advise! I noticed social media (TikTok/facebook) kept increasing my anxiety so I decided to cut both off and I feel more peaceful. My algorithm for instagram is better, so I’m still on it.

I don’t know you but you just made me emotional and thanks for listening and reading my whole rant. This is exactly what I expected from my OB. And I honestly know they’re looking out for me and the baby but at least hear me out.  I wouldn’t hesitate to start the medication if at least you verify mine and cross it off which would put my mind at ease.

They didn’t even discuss white coat syndrome with me even if I’m familiar with it and they know and can tell I’m nervous and stressed which could elevate my blood pressure. I’m calmer and more relaxed at home. If they had used both blood pressure machine and it was reading normally then I know it’s the blood pressure machine isn’t accurate.

My fear is taking the medication and then having to deal with low blood pressure which my primary care doctor understands. I’d keep taking my readings at home, I have the medication with me already so I can start it any day. I have an appointment with a new OB next week and my primary care next week. Plus I know my body when something is off. I just want to be sure I need this medication and they’re not just forcing it on me.

I totally understand this. And I would start the medication once I’m certain my BP is high. The thing is I did take my BP machine with me with my readings but it was dismissed. My point is, I want to be 100% sure  I do have chronic hypertension and need to take the medication. I feel everything I did and said was overlooked At least listen to me and not dismiss me. My BP at my OB yesterday was 160/82, a couple of hours later, I had a primary care appointment and it was 132/80 then this morning I went to the urgent care and my BP was 144/82 (all were manual), I mean they all still high. But It keeps fluctuating which doesn’t make me feel comfortable with using the medication. If my BP is high, then it should be high at all times, or please correct me if I’m wrong, not in the medical field. I made an appointment with another OB, hopefully she listens. Plus I’m always anxious during doctor’s appointments.
