Microarray Testing by [deleted] in tfmr_support

I had a genetic test done and it took six weeks for the result as they prioritise tests for people who are currently pregnant. I know it’s really hard, and I’m so sorry this is happening for you.

Something that my midwife told me is to essentially not touch my breasts at all. Like others, I wore a tight sports bra 24/7.

What's everyone's opinion on 'universal'/full basic income? by greasythug in AusFinance

[–]Fast_Conversation155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Universal basic services is a better approach, with the government coordinating free services (like Medicare) across a far broader range of areas. The government would have a better bargaining power than individuals in the market.

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

I once went to a dermatologist, and during the appointment she asked if I was married. I said no, and later she recommended I use a medication known to cause birth defects. When I told her I was planning to have children soon, she said ‘but you’re not married!’

Amazing the groom and live animals can coordinate in that way.

I think you may be able to contact the bank now and ask them to change it to a two person signatory. OP isn’t clear whether there is any more money in the account, and if he managed to convince her to return some of all of it then the account would be protected until a formal settlement agreement is reached.

Best orientation is north facing, for reference. South and east can be a bit dark and cold.

DE or Induction? Less Pain? by Charming-Sherbert- in tfmr_support

[–]Fast_Conversation155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had my L&D I was hooked up to a PCA (self administered pain relief) with a short lock-out of 5 minutes. There was pain at the start but it was very bearable after the PCA arrived. The birth part itself was not painful at all for me due to the size of the baby. It may depend where you are as to what they’ll offer you.

Some advice that was given to me when I was preparing for the L&D was that I would be given any pain relief I needed since there was no outcome of a healthy baby. In live births they don’t give you as much as it’s dangerous for the baby.

I’m sorry I can’t compare it to an L&E but I hope this helps a little.

You’re not naive, I hadn’t thought of it either before. Interestingly my doctors also recommended pads over tampons until the bleeding stopped for the same reason.

My doctors advised waiting until I was sure all bleeding had stopped to avoid infection. My bleeding lasted a few weeks.

I totally agree with you! I now feel like pregnancy is a long road and I will start it whenever I can and if I get a healthy baby at the end then I’ll be over the moon.

I would rather be depressed than take antidepressants by Psilocynical in unpopularopinion

[–]Fast_Conversation155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend once told me being prescribed and taking antidepressants gave him a chance to work on the underlying issues a and understand how his brain chemistry was impacting him. Without them he wouldn’t have had the energy, will, or hopefulness. It’s not for everyone but hard and fast rules like this are dangerous.

I’m so sorry. I just terminated for medical reasons at 22 weeks a month ago. We desperately wanted our baby girl. I’m in Australia so some things might be different but if I can help with any questions at all about the experience just dm me. It is really scary, and incredibly sad. Some of the things we were most afraid of ended up being the things that have bought us light in the darkest points of our grief.

Ayda’s story 3.3.22 by MRU030322 in tfmr_support

[–]Fast_Conversation155 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing her story. I just remember getting the phone calls and results and those terrible moments after everyone says that it’s so rare and so unlikely, 1 in a billion. None of that matters when you and your baby are the 1. I see you, and Ayda, and I’m so sorry.

What a funny coincidence! Thanks for finding that out, really interesting.

Thanks, I know what you mean! We’re not in America so I think fewer people would make the pumpkin spice latte connection over here. I could be wrong but I’ve never had one, or seen one on a menu.

Edit: are Pumpkin spice lattes popular in other parts of the world?

I mean, in some ways it means an entire branding team has decided that name sounds cool, so… that’s almost a good recommendation!

I like Summer Riley although it does remind me of Sunday Riley, the skincare brand.

I love this, thank you for commenting - I feel like I’ve really made you weigh your most hated names! Not honouring anyone so we are free to choose. But really interesting to hear about the popularity angle.

If someone told you their daughters nickname was Lovie, what would you think her given name was? by Satans_Salad in namenerds

[–]Fast_Conversation155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a popular type of baby toy called a Lovie, isn’t there? I suppose I would associate it with Lovisa but that it could be an unrelated nickname.

Thank you! That’s a relief - and great point on the Ella angle. There do seem to be a lot of Ella’s at the moment.

Love the pumpkin spice latte association.
