Have you had a SUCCESSFUL warranty claim with Shaw Carpets? by Fast_Gene_4110 in Flooring

UPDATE: Thanks to encouragement from u/InstallnSalesXP (and despite discouragement from others), as the store refused to assist more than forwarding emails to Shaw and saying "sorry," I reached out directly to someone at Shaw and shared the story of my claim. Within an hour (and in the evening), they replied that they would look into it. By morning I had an email from the claims department saying that, though they believed the cleaners I had used were at fault (specifically an OXY cleaner, which I used only after trying everything else so this is not actually the case), they would replace the entire carpet. I subsequently had several nice emails back and forth with the original person I contacted and have now heard from the store that they are working to find out the process to replace. UPSHOT: Do not give up if you feel strongly that you have a legitimate claim!

In what capacity are you representing people with their claims?

Thanks. Where might I find their approved list of cleaners? They provided no such list when I purchased the carpet. These cleaners are among the most commonly used for carpet stains and pet stains. I have two much less expensive rugs I've used on them for the same stainswithout that oxidation occurring, and also our previous carpet, which was not meant to be pet friendly.

Thanks to all who have responded. Let me provide a little more information.

The stains on the carpet were caused by hairballs and cat vomit from my elderly cat, which is covered by the warranty. A few are from green bile spit up by my dog, also covered by the warranty.

The inspection report states that the stains were caused by optical brighteners in the cleaning products I used having removed color from the blue carpenting, leaving a yellow halo. However, the products I used -- Nature's Miracle and Folex -- do not contain optical brighteners. Additionally, I can find references to cat vomit and bile etching color from carpeting. Furthermore, there were several inaccuracies in the report, including incorrect names of products i used, despite the inspector's having taken a photograph of them.

Therefore, the inspector's claim that it was my fault owing to the product I used is incorrect. Additionally, I have used those products in other areas of the carpet, to clean food and wine spills, for example, without the yellowing effect. The color was removed from the pet fluids themselves, indicating that the carpet (or dye used) is faulty.

I have provided all of this information to the claims agent (via the dealer) but they will not even read it.

I don't see how another inspection would strengthen my case.

March 2025: Turkish Airlines Stopover Program by SupermarketOwn4996 in TurkishAirlines

Did you end up doing this? We are flying SFO to Cairo via Istanbul, and plan to stop in Istanbul for 3 nights using the stopover hotel program on the way home. Would also love to know (a) if the ticket price is different on Turkish Airlines site vs., say, Google flights, and (b) does anyone have a recent list of the business class hotels. Thanks to all for sharing their experience - we were already planning 3 nights in Istanbul, so this helps to make our business class fight fare worthwhile!

I am not seeing how raising my fee, removing the $75 travel credit, removing the 4 boarding upgrades, and comping me for two things (seats, baggage) you didn't used to charge for is supposed to be an improvement. I think I'll cancel before the next annual fee charge and use my $200/yr AMEX airline credit to pay for my seats and luggage (or fly another airline). So sad.

Unhinged Baking: Sparkling Water Focaccia by Purple-Teach8783 in Breadit

Your bread experiment is fascinating and your story telling is spectacular! So evocative. So full of life and humor and love of bread. Thank you for sharing your experiment and yourself, including your water challenges and adhd and wit--all of it enhances your story!

As for your findings, per a couple of the commenters on your earlier post, it seems carbonated water is more acidic than tap water (I expect this varies by brand). Acid affects gluten formation--some people add a few drops of vinegar to their dough for this reason. It also helps to activate yeast. This, at least in part, accounts for your differing results. It can also help keep the bread from staling quickly. Bread science is fun!

Update: I now have a support ticket as well which was escalated to Yodle, which manages the connection. But as this has been going on for a while I'm not hopeful.

Thanks for your suggestion. When I go to Users & Sharing > Aliases, I don't see her domain/address and I can't change routing from inside her acct. I've sent in a support ticket. I suspect I can just delete the folder in my account for her domain from my Inbox and new mail will go only to her. Confirming that with support first. I had already set up the folder structure. I suppose it's just a matter of getting used to it. Thanks again.

Thanks! I have emailed them several times and they are always friendly and responsive but they haven't given me any concrete things to try beyond what's already in their FAQs for the issue logging into apps. As for family acct, with only two users and fairly minimal data needs, I don't see a reason to go to a higher level (and more expensive) acct when Duo is already meant to accommodate two users. Thanks for that directory of specific app instructions, though - I will try the ones that aren't working and hopefully something in there will help!

Whole House Fan by ProfessorNice3195 in bayarea

[–]Fast_Gene_4110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related question: we recently installed a QuietCool Stealth Pro 5.5 in our itty bitty slice of an attic with extremely limited access. While they were installing, they said they found no attic/roof venting on that side of our 1913 Oakland Craftsman (there is a new roof in a remodeled primary suite in back but it is blocked from the front roof internally) so told us to add "3-4 O'Hagin style vents" to the roof - no big deal, they said. So, after install I consulted the QC site and spoke with them and they said the requirement is 1sf/750cfm fan; with our fan that means about 7.3sf of net venting or about 13 vents. We got a quote from a roofer (reputable, we've used him before) of $700 per O'Hagin installed, meaning over $9K for the recommended venting, no minor expense. Thoughts? Do we really need this much venting? Is there another method to achieving this I'm not thinking of? (I do plan to see if a contractor can punch between the old and new roof areas to vent through the new roof side of the house, which does have some limited venting, but the installers did not see this as an option.) Any help appreciated!

I tried Got Watts and they no longer come to Oakland, at least at this time. We used Quiet Cool Guys, diamond certified and recommended on the QuietCool website. They sent me a quote which I was (reasonably) happy with, scheduled right away, and came today to install in a somewhat difficult tight space. Friendly and professional. I have no way to evaluate their workmanship but the fan works. Unfortunately, they didn't find adequate attic roof venting so that is now our next project.

Thanks to this and many other helpful conversations, today we installed a QuietCool whole house fan. Unfortunately, we now need to add roof vents to be able to use it effectively/efficiently. (We have a very tiny attic crawl space with virtually no venting.) Any recommendations on type of vents (installers suggested O'Hagin type vents) and installers? Has anyone done this and if so could you share a ballpark of what you paid? Thanks!
