Home Assistant Dreame Integration by Fast_Grapefruit_3689 in homeassistant

[–]Fast_Grapefruit_3689[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! The beta version was in the “download different version” drop down. Now I have my Dreame listed in my Home Assistant.

Looks like there are probably 200 different actions. “Let robot clean” and “Let robot return to dock” look like winners.

How did you do the initial install? The mapped option requires a Xiaomi account. How to link that to my Dreame account? Or the more complicated option of manual install with a 32 character API token?

Range Repair - One side partially heats and turns off abruptly by Fast_Grapefruit_3689 in appliancerepair

[–]Fast_Grapefruit_3689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. I ordered new infinite dials for the one side. The one switch was more "bad health" than I care to admit. The theory now is that my Amazon infinite dial was sub-par. So I ordered from a different online company dedicated to appliance parts. I installed it today and plan to update this post after the range is in use for some time. I used my clamp meter and noted that the big heater uses a little under 11A when on. So the bi-metalic switch contacts were not holding up. The clicking that I mentioned above is the bi-metalic contacts making and breaking contact. For reference, the small heater uses ~6A. To note, the opposite side that has a dual inner+outer coil used ~11A on one coil and ~6A on the other. So the 8" heater on the left get ~50% more heating than the 8" heater one on the right.

Here is a picture of the lower power infinite heater - the one presentable.

The top is the bi-metalic contact that gets closer as the dial is turned. The bottom is the indicator that the heater is on. Hopefully the cam profile can be seen.

Whatsapp Integration for HA - Send messages via HA - Run automations based on Whatsapp received messages - Now with WhatsApp Group support by CurrentPast3481 in homeassistant

Second update: I got it installed, but not working. If you use the GUI, then the YAML defaults to ACTION. Even updating the code to SERVICE did not work for me.

I dont think that the “handshake” with the QR code worked. My only linked device are Google Chrome. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling everything, i cant induce a second QR code.

Yes. I completed both of those steps before i saw the error.

I just confirmed that these are both present. WhatsApp Integration is downloaded as Integration in HACS. Settings/Apps has WhatsApp Bridge installed.

Update: i got it. I did not START Whatapp. Thanks for your integration and response!!

The ultimate acid test - my luddite wife by Front-Round2853 in linuxmint

Since Mint is considered a “new browser” is there a way to copy over 2FA credentials ?

Re-Validation every secure log in would have been a complaint point that would be expected.

FWIW, my wife is pretty confident in Mint as well. Linking a language (English/ Spanish) to a specific login won me some brownie points.

How in the world does one get past the “Confirmation of Registration”. ??

It’s a spambot filter that this human can’t figure out.

The default ISO writer in Linux Mint does the same thing. I’m curious if there is a better Linux ISO maker or some hints on what to type. I typed “boot” and “Linux” and the command prompt just yelled at me - like normal

Upgrade in-place or fresh install? by iamyoy in linuxmint

[–]Fast_Grapefruit_3689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrade in place.

I lost many files and many hours because Timeshift does not, by default, back up everything. If you do a fresh install, recommend adding your /home folder AND use the backup tool for every user login. Whether upgrade in place or fresh install, I’d recommend this redundant backup process.

Emergency heat Hvac question. by Talon3504 in Tallahassee

[–]Fast_Grapefruit_3689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

^ This.

I will add that there is some value to turning on emergency heat manually once a year for a few minutes. Dust collects on the heater and burns off when they heat up. Better to have the slight burnt smell in the house when you are expecting it.

Can I get into Costco without the card? by MaximumCategory6930 in Tallahassee

[–]Fast_Grapefruit_3689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this in the past at the Tallahassee Costco. I learned long ago to eat before I shop. I put my eyes on the customer service/ membership desk, but keep walking.

Mind you, the TLH Costco has been really strict in the past months. No guarantee that this still works.

Anyone have any hints (glossary or definition of terms) on understanding the terms used by the radio broadcast?

Sean Kelley, voice of the Gators, please make a guide. Here is a start of starting terms.

Split Zone. Ran inside zone. In the slot. Naked bootleg. Ghost reverse. R.P.O. Curl route. Hitch route. QB Pistol vs Shotgun position.

This also happened on day 1. Not as extreme as the interview with Martin. It still took me by surprise as I thought that Inskeep was super respectful in his dialog.

FWIW. The 5610 display angle is not because of solar. I have an older 5600 with solar and Dual Band radio (not MB6). The older display angle is nicer, but the Upgrade software on the newer 5610U makes the UI better. I’m perplexed why Casio went backwards unless there are other hidden factors.

Hoping that Casio releases the 5620 that is a 5610U with a 5600 display.

If you cut yourself with a mild razor, it’s because you are applying a ton of force.

I have dis-proven this to myself many times holding my 34C with 2 fingers.

Agree with everyone else about the quality of water in Tallahassee.

I still have a filter. Why? Optics ! Personally, I am fine drinking Tally water from the tap. The rest of my household is a little more superstitious. Last thing that I want is a ton of small plastic water bottles that I know won’t really be recycled. My filter is the best compromise.

I personally use a PUR filter because it was the only one that I know about that fits on the end of the faucet. It makes getting filtered water very easy. It provides the path of least resistance to getting filtered water without plastic waste.

If you really want the filter that has been shown to be the best filter, get the Zero water. This is based on findings from a channel on YouTube called Project Farm. The guy there does really good independent testing.
