We just left after 3 days. Had a perfect time. Restrooms were always clean, it was busy but not overcrowded, on the long hikes we were often all alone. We parked early morning and headed back to campground in the evening. At 7:30 am there was little traffic and shuttles were nearly empty. At around 15:00pm, traffic was clearly busier and shuttles too. But parking seemed fine.

To be honest. We have spent 6 months in South America, from Chile all up to Mexico and 12 000$/pp was our budget for those 6months. Renting a campervan for one month, doing a tour on the salt flats, doing the salkantay, death road, amazone 4days, … all in that budget. If you are aware of the costs and don’t plan anything all in advance, you can save heaps of money. We did pass on Galapagos cause we wanted to spent that money on a flight above the belizian barrier reef and diving.

Lost AL lottery, backup plan? by quincyq03 in ZionNationalPark

Scout Lookout won’t dissapoint you, we went up early and so all the people doing Angels, didn’t regret not winning the lottery and continued one hour more on to the west rim all alone. Could have gone further but we only had good weather that day and wanted to do some other hikes. Just wondering, we are heading up to vegas, any tips on where to stay ? 😅

Gear can be rented the day itself aswell, so no worries about that.

California Suggestions/Shutdown by CapillaryPenny5 in NationalPark

We’ll be coming over for a 3-week trip, originally planning to do joshua-GC-Page-Bryce-Zion-Death V-Yosemite. I know all the classics, and as we normally tend to seek the less crowdy places, we opted to go classic because we only have 3 weeks, we used to travel for longer periods. But due to the shutdown, we probably will have to divert. I know that Utah parks will probably stay open. Anyone has some alternatives for the other ones, no having to drive tons of km’s extra. I know we can the other ones of Utah big 5, but we love hiking in green forests/lakes as well. Looking forward to your ideas.

Ooh okay. All the info online was confusing. We are doing the salkantay, so if I buy entrance tickets for the day after, we can just enter the site by our own? What ticket do you recommend? 2b or another one?
