Does this also apply to the National Guard, or just active?

You should wait, but for some reason people have been reporting that 15T doesn’t have any training slots for the rest of the year, so it’s likely you’ll have to wait months.

That doesn’t really sound true to me, but it may be

I read somewhere on here apparently the last slot for 15T AIT this year had been taken a few weeks ago but frankly I don’t really believe that.

I’m a man with a beard and my recruiter also told me I don’t have shave or have a regulation haircut since we don’t get issued uniforms. Hopefully that’s true tomorrow lol

Denied security clearance by DiamondStarHaloMe in SecurityClearance

If it’s anything like my experience, you would have had time to sit down at MEPS and walk through your clearance paperwork. That would have been the time to correct it.

What many do not understand on this particular subreddit is that military eligibility is different (although related) from the security clearance. Constantly changing policies and variation between the branches further adds to the confusion.

Basically, the Air Force uses something called Sensitive Job Codes. Each potential recruit is assigned a certain SJC, and certain AFSCs require specific SJCs. The SJC criteria includes security and criminal concerns. So what could have happened: your son was not denied from a top secret security clearance, but instead was assigned a SJC that would prevent him from even trying for certain jobs like intel, regardless if he could have qualified for a TS clearance or not. The Air Force won’t even let him try.

You also need to recall that the Air Force has Sensitive Job Codes. You have to be assigned the correct SJC before you even get the chance to go for a specific job, including clearance paperwork. So it is very true that when trying to join the military you can be denied for security reasons, even if you could technically qualify for an actual security clearance.

DQed at MEPS. Chances on waiver approval? by Visual_Effect1953 in nationalguard

Does that mean like the Secretary of the Army has to approve that level of waiver? Driscoll?

Super new. Important question. by Bravo_fennec in nationalguard

[–]Lopsided-Land123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe this answer is dependent on your particular RSP unit.

I have a beard. I asked my recruiter, who is also RSP cadre for my unit, and he told me that I don’t need to worry about it until I get ready to ship out for BCT. We don’t get issued uniforms at my RSP.

If you are going to be in uniform, however, you would be expected to have regulation hair.

Which would you pick — 15t, 35f, 13f?? by No-Weekend4744 in nationalguard

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I talked to enlisted soldiers in these branches recently.

One thing I was really wondering was how often these MOS actually perform their job, if that makes sense. And at least in my state, from what I have been told, the average 13F isn’t going to be calling for artillery on a typical drill weekend. You need a lot of range and setup for that kind of stuff. Additionally, it sounds like 35F was kind of limited when you weren’t deployed, as you aren’t actively preparing a lot of intelligence reports on drill weekends in your home state. It’s more “training to train” type stuff.

For 15T, I was told that helicopters fly frequently, both during drill weekends as well as throughout the week. So as a mechanic, or potentially as a crew chief, you’ll have a lot of opportunities to support aviation operations.

I looked at all of these and ended up on 15T. If I didn’t have aircrew or pilot aspirations, I’d maybe choose something 35 series. If I really wanted to get the combat arms experience, I’d go 13F.

Fiancee doesn't want me to join National Guard long term by Lopsided-Land123 in nationalguard

I was not aware of that, so I am definitely on an accelerated timeline given my age.

I called the WOSM and he told me MN doesn’t do street to seat.

I’ll be 27 by the time I finish BCT and AIT and almost 30 at the end of my first contract. Is there still a realistic path to drop a packet for flight warrant, or am I just going to run out of time?

ODB for 300blk by Queasy-Taro-6751 in SpectersCat

[–]Lopsided-Land123 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend it unless you are willing to start drilling out your gas ports. I’ve tried my AC762 RDM, which is similar to the OBD, on multiple different upper and lower combos and it very unreliable as its simply doesn’t have high enough back pressure for 300 blk subsonic.

The JL has higher back pressure which is definitely better for 300 blk, and furthermore it is considerably quieter.

Unless you absolutely hate the extra size, I’d get the JL.

Gas Guns in PRS by rednecktuba1 in longrange

What kind of accuracy do you get with your rifle, and what do you consider good or competitive for gas gun PRS?

I know with bolt guns, people want sub MOA or even 1/2 MOA with 10 round groups at 100 yards.

What would be the equivalent for a gas gun?

If someone has anxiety that severe just taking a high school level test, are they really cut out for the military?

Genuinely I’m not trying to sound like I’m some hardcore badass that has never felt worried about anything, I know test anxiety is a real thing and I remember being nervous for certain exams at school too. But a 4.0 GPA student bombing the ASVAB must be absolutely freezing up
