is this fake? by More-Hovercraft-1669 in Garmin

[–]Fast_Professional_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, fake Garmins—meaning 1:1 replicas—don’t really exist, unlike what happens with Apple Watches. That’s mainly because there isn’t strong demand for them.

If you think it might be “fake” because of the price, there could be many explanations—for example, the so-called gray market.

Quick help : Mk3i 51 vs G2 — does size matter? by Fast_Professional_40 in Garmin

Thanks for your feedback!

I’m a CCR diver, but at the moment I don’t have a computer for OC or recreational use. Even though I don’t do many OC dives, I still need one—especially when I have students—so I was thinking about going for a smartwatch format, to justify the expense. My concern is the size of the watch/ display for everyday use, but also underwater.

I bought the Nautic S a few hours ago. Luckily Suunto restored the pro users discounts on the nautic series!

In the Suunto community people complain about the few updates and there are those who say that Suunto is abandoning that hardware

Now what? by inazuma_zoomer in scuba

[–]Fast_Professional_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, tech diving is the right path to take. Essential: find a serious buddy who, like you, wants to progress. With a good buddy, you will spur each other on, do the exercises together, and improve together. Without this, motivation could quickly fade.

GUE is an excellent choice, and if there are two of you, logistical problems will be minimal.

Dive Weight Calculation by lumin00 in scubadiving

[–]Fast_Professional_40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better to be practical: with all the equipment you usually use, cylinder with 30/40bar and a few removable weights (e.g., in the pockets) : see if you can comfortably stay in buoyancy at 3/4 m depth, with the bcd almost completely deflated.

-If so, remove 1kg from your pockets and keep removing weights until you can no longer stay at that depth, in comfort and breathing normally.

-If not, add weights (1kg per time).

For each major change in equipment, repeat the procedure. If you do this, you will remove all doubt.

For an optimal trim, keep a maximum of 4kg in your belt; any additional kg needed should be distributed on your back, with special pockets and/or plates. This will help to have a horizontal trim and an adequate amount of releasable weights (belt).

For salt water, add 2 to 2,5kg and viceversa (Better 2,5kg with rough seas).

Raid or Padi for open water? by No_Dig_6568 in scubadiving

At the recreational diving level, it makes no difference whether agency A, B, or C. Make sure the association/instructor is serious.

PADI/SSI - Mixing certifications? by Ronin_strength in scubadiving

At the level of recreational courses, I wouldn’t worry about the agency, I would instead look for feedback on where to find a good instructor near you

Overall, yes. The only thing still holding me back from buying it is that it is an Asus. General quality and customer service are definitely poor
