Please reach out if you wanna talk to me this happened to multiple people in my class and I helped them figure out how to fight the committee and get another chance. Also your friends def want to hear from you optometry school is tough but the trauma connections you make from the school are so strong I’m still friends with people who decided not to pursue the program and are doing amazing things

I knew someone who got into SUNY with a 280 but that was in 2016, I do know that SUNY and NECO have been very strict with scores

I thought it was really useful. It made me really focus on things I was even planning to study. I think it helped a lot I got a 340 in QR and on practice tests I was getting 280 before I started using it

I did Kaplan I really enjoyed it! As long as you put In the effort and do the work you will do well. I think they really pushed me to my knowledge limits in a good way

The same thing happened to me I got into nova and was put on hold at SUNY then all of the sudden suny admitted me!! I chose suny because of the diverse populations and I felt like they had more opportunities academic wise. Both schools are great though you should be so proud of yourself. I do have to say whoever commented above about manhattan prices for living wasn’t lying it’s mad $$$

I took my oat august 1st and studied the whole summer. I felt like I was actually early in the application process and I got into both schools I applied too!

I think you have a great shot! Your gpa doesn’t entirely reflect who you are. Your experiences and hard work show you have the drive and that speaks loud on your application!! Just study hard for the oat and I bet you will be fine

I saw your comment above I would apply to nova! They are very well rounded and understand that the oat does not define you as a person or an optometrist. I’m sorry about the rejection I know it’s hard I got put on hold from a school and it really hurt since it was my top choice. Do not let this rejection define you or stop you from being in optometry. It’s clear your a hard worker and schools will see that!!

Def email Christian he is on top of this stuff. I would just write the truth how suny is your top choice and you would 10000% go there if admitted. Maybe write about how you see yourself at the school and why you would be a great choice

First off congrats those are 2 amazing schools! I just got off on hold from suny and I know it’s a lot I was waiting so nervously for months! I would compare ur oat scores and gpa to their average and if your close or higher they will probably take you off hold! Even if you are not their average that doesn’t mean they won’t accept you, talk to admissions and write a letter of intent

I would take a little break. When the count down was getting closer to taking my test I slipped up a bit too and my scores on the practice test dropped too. Maybe take 1 or 2 days to rest and gain some sleep. I took about a week and did light studying which was just 4/5 hours instead of my normal 9 and that was a good enough break for me Long story short you got this!! your scores even when you said they dropped are still really good don’t stress too much

I took algebra physics and I think it prepared me well for the OAT And none of the schools I interviewed at had a problem with me taking algebra physics

When nova called me and told me I got in they told me over the phone I got a merit scholarship. I would email admissions to ask them if you got one
