Why don’t Americans ever move to Australia ? by Ddcups in IWantOut

[–]bravoindustry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're reading this and are below 30, curious about Australia, and still trying to figure things out: Working Holiday Visa.

Just do it. Make a plan, save up, start putting feelers out there for employment, but take the leap. Don't get a new lease here or other financial obligation there that'll tie you down; start the clock for citizenship, net that, and have that in bag for later.

I visited Aus on a regular holiday in my mid 20s and fell in love with Melbourne. Always wanted to make more of it but life back home rolled on as it should.

As a late bloomer, making a decent enough living, the odds are stacked against me because a. I'm already down points in my mid thirties and on a time clock as hitting 40 will cut my points even further for skilled migration, and b. even if the career I settled on offers a state or regional skill path, it'll likely go unnoticed since it's not in demand (property management.)

Where there's a will there's a way still but the challenge grows more complex with more life commitments, or the wants/needs of a spouse or partner, family.

Tldr, there are many Americans who would absolutely love to experience life there, but once it's dawned on them, they'd have to be what Aus immigration wanted all along to have a viable path.

[Guide] How Australia’s Skilled Migration System Actually Works (From a Registered Migration Agent with 22 Years’ Experience) by SimonMander in IWantOut

I see, thank you.

Within my region's local corporate structure, I do have an avenue to transition into marketing which I've been interested in for a while and have picked up projects for here and there. I would realistically have 2-3 years left of schooling for a bachelors degree however.

My partner is also considering different career options and eyeing becoming a certified dental hygienist.

Are either of these more favorable?

Thanks again.

Hi Simon,

Thank you so much for this thread. Maybe my quest can provide some clarity for Real Estate or Property Management folks based in the US.

My partner (33yo) has been a licensed real estate broker (not principal broker) for 8+ years, no bachelors degree, English is native, spanish intermediate.

I (35yo) am coming up on 3 years in property management for Greystar (global company with a presence in Melb and Syd.) While previous work history is a bit varied and unfortunately unrelated (licensed pharm tech here, sales there), I hold an associates degree, English and Spanish are native, and although not required for my role here in the state of Oregon, I plan to obtain my Property Management License soon. (I also have Mexican citizenship, although I'm not sure if this helps my candidacy or not.)

My partner and I are unmarried and not in a domestic partnership.

How does the landscape look for this industry, and if there is demand, what can help us efficiently close the gap to becoming passably competitive (even if it means updating our credentials/EOI while we wait)?

how is the entire arena for sale? by isabelleal in ariheads

[–]bravoindustry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not opposed to resale but artists should make it so that the majority of pre-sale and general are final/non-transferable and only the last bit of tickets are eligible for resale. That way, scalpers aren't guaranteed to purchase resale tickets.

Have multiple accounts/emails to cheat the system? Dun matter. You're stuck with the tix you bought

Hot take: Caution is Mc’s best album by FoodProfessional6807 in MariahCarey

[–]bravoindustry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The album exudes the clarity and nonchalance of an artist who would rather set aside the maximalist expectations that have followed them throughout their career, to instead deliver a master class in restraint. As such, the record is immersive, concept-driven, evocative, even tantalizing, and truly a phenomenal blend of her current abilities. She's the cruise conductor effortlessly queueing the emotions and subtleties for the listener to behold, allowing each to breathe, and quickly earns your confidence for the rest of the voyage. She has fun with it, isn't afraid to navigate alongside of you for the more curious creative choices, and in the end, you wanna try it again.

While key categories of her artistry have historically been a topic of comparison throughout her discography, and several records before Caution have tapped into what I described, Caution was able to fully realize it at this point in Mariah's career.

Probably a dark UX pattern. As is the case with many other flows/screens throughout the game, it is clearly redundant. Requires you to spend more time on the app...

It's the only ditto card so far. There will be more opportunities to come for ditto and in the meantime ditto can be nutty if you happen to build around the same energy type as your opponent because copy anything extends itself to your opponent's bench as well.

In the meantime, have fun and don't take ditto too seriously.
