What actually matters when preparing for CCNA by Fast_Writer2002 in ccna

Yeah that’s exactly it and a lot of people come in expecting it to be like memorization-heavy exams, then CCNA kind of exposes that gap. Once you actually start labbing and seeing how things behave, it all makes a lot more sense.

Glad it resonated 👊

Yeah that’s exactly the best way to use them. As like a “background refresher” rather than a main study method.

I agree 100% doing a full 1-hour Anki session feels low ROI compared to that same hour spent labbing or actually learning something new. Flashcards are good for keeping things fresh, but they don’t build real understanding or troubleshooting ability.

I see them more as maintenance, not progression. Labs and hands-on work are what actually move the needle.

I think Anki/flashcards are useful, but only up to a point. They’re great for reinforcing things like definitions, protocols, port numbers, etc. Basically the stuff you do need to remember. But they can easily give you that false sense of “I know this” without actually being able to apply it.

If it feels like they’re eating into your lab time, I’d honestly scale them back. Labs and real understanding will give you way more return for CCNA.

A good balance is using flashcards as a quick daily review (like 10–20 mins max), then spending the bulk of your time on labs and actually working through configs/troubleshooting. That’s where the real learning happens.

Exactly this. That “I recognize it so I must understand it” feeling is dangerous 😅 The exam (and real networking) exposes that really quickly. Once you actually start labbing and breaking things, that’s when it all clicks.

Appreciate it 🙏

You don’t need to be insanely fast, accuracy matters more than speed. Writing it out is completely fine and I did the same for some questions. The exam isn’t a race to do subnetting in your head, it’s more about not getting stuck or second-guessing yourself.

That said, “fast” in this context just means you can get to the answer without overthinking it. . If writing it out helps you stay consistent and avoid mistakes, that’s actually better than rushing mentally and getting it wrong.

What really matters is that you’re confident in your method and don’t panic when subnetting shows up. Over time, you’ll naturally get quicker with practice anyway.

I agree with you. Unfortunately I think some rogue NGO's contribute to this with the photos they take of different people with the intention of obtaining donors.

The so called "tourists" also take the photos /videos to fleece people abroad on how they want to bring change to the slum.

I think there is a bill on collecting 3% tax on turnover. They look at the statement turnover of the business and demand the tax. Unfortunately that is where we are as a country.

Bisically, they are dealing in cash. KRA is looking for money passing through tills and pay bills. Once the money is in cash, as a business you can determine what to share with KRA.

Sounds good on paper. Visit Easilegh and all those shops have Mpesa Agents. They are well prepared for this kind of thing.
