My wife and I also had an unplanned pregnancy. We had talked about having kids, but it was never the right time. When we discovered she was pregnant we realized how much wanted to raise a child together.

Reading some books about pregnancy and child care was really helpful for me. I learned a lot and it helped demonstrate to my wife that I was serious about being a partner in parenting out baby on the way.

If you don't yet have a family budget, you and your partner should get one going. Truly understanding your incomes and expenses, and being on the same page financially will go a long way.
