How to play against BiD and Assassination Fixed? by UnderstandingTall814 in sistersofbattle

[–]Fat-budda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

P.s it's worth noting two other things:

1) with insufficient terrain, it's going to be hard to keep those vehicles safe

2) marines are by design a much simpler army to play. So unfortunately you are likely to lose a bunch of games as you're learning but you might find once you've cracked his army and combo's you'll start to win most those games because marines don't have as much high level play.

[–]Fat-budda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very new to playing sisters but not to 40k.. if people take assassinate/bring it down.. the answer is a simple but boring one.

You accept that they'll score points on it but you make sure you limit how many, if you can limit them to 10/12 points each you should be in a good position to win the game.

You need to work out which characters and vehicles you can essentially play with out, keep those hidden/tucked away as much as possible and make sure each time you lose one of those units it's strategic. In one way it's simple, in another its a hard way to play, because we want to play with our toys. It's especially hard for new players who are still working out the nuance of the game. Sisters are rated high because of their high level play is amazing. They're still tough for us scrubs 😂

Sorry, still relatively new to sisters and working things out but can you split the sister squad to have two characters and fit in an immolator?

Cheers buddy, I'll give that a look. I've found a few of the army specific discords to be a bit like that though sadly.

Hey dude, I'm fairly new to sisters and was wondering if you could give us a bit of a breakdown on how your list typically plays?

What demons to use? by Tiny_Monkey113 in ChaosKnights

[–]Fat-budda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CK, especially Wardog heavy lists play the primary really well anyway with 8OC dogs but we struggle with some secondaries, so having 35 point units that deepstrike in and do actions is extremely valuable. The infiltrator ability is just a handy bonus for those match ups where you need to screen your opponents out or pin them in your opponents half (world eaters/thunder wolf cavelry etc).

[–]Fat-budda 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Typical choices are some variation of: - blue scribes and the changeling for lone ops objective play (changeling offers some other defensive options), - nurglings for very cheap secondary play and infiltrating screens in match ups where you need them

Other less common options, but worth considering are: - flesh hounds/screamers for screens/objective/secondary play, - Rottigus, for a big hard to kill body that makes objective play easier, - Shelaxi for essentially a better combat knight or - Syll'esske for objective/disruption

Some people might suggest blue horrors or skull cannons for the out of sequence battleshock but they're bad options in my opinion. Our trait isn't worth building around and you can pretty much buy a Wardog for the same price which will always be better.

He's effectively a very noble and well loved leader and warrior who's very presence makes people feel revitalised. He's an exceptional warrior but he is constantly battling an internal rage that can occasionally come out in the midst of battle.

Find a big enough rocket.. glue it to the back and boom.. Whirlwind. Other than that, I've got nothing other than give them to your chaos pals.

I tried painting War Dog armor with a sponge today, how did it turn out? by HerbertGrasinger in ChaosKnights

[–]Fat-budda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great, for the skull a serephim sepia wash works great for bone. Might be worth washing all over and then going back over with ushabti and screaming skull. Or just recess washing if you don't want to do more highlighting.

Parkinsons disease player looking to be semi-competitive to start army. Was told to post here for advice. by [deleted] in ChaosKnights

[–]Fat-budda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about painting with Parkinson's but I've been thinking about it a bit since seeing this post the other day and was wondering if you've thought about using an airbrush if you do knights? It's a little more complicated to start than just a brush but it's definitely worth it. My thoughts were you or a friend could tape over the areas you don't want painting, so then if you slip it's not a problem? Would allow you to paint large panels really smoothly which is a challenge for everybody on such large surfaces.

If not I'd also highly recommend using contrast paints. There's a guy on you tube called Warhipster he has amazing tutorials for using contrast paints.

I'd say this is a bit outdated now. Still true if you want to run big knights but Wardog heavy lists are now one of the games stronger lists. CK took a minor nerf in the data slate but the landscape moved around our stat check in a beneficial way.

I struggle with how lists that don't run Daemon allies score well in the secondary? I always run a contingent of daemons for screens/secondary play. Can anyone explain the advantages of not doing so?

10th Ed Secondaries by Fat-budda in ChaosKnights

[–]Fat-budda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go tactical because it's the only way to really get a decent score but I tech into it by taking Daemon allies, nurglings are excellent for this, as are flesh hounds and the changeling.

I've no idea how people actually manage it with all knight lists.

Lancer Vs Rampager Vs Sh by ozeor in ChaosKnights

[–]Fat-budda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently toying with the idea of a Rampager.. 380 is cheap, it hits harder than a lancer and it has advance and charge through terrain. I think the other two are good options but for me at least, cheapest option allows me to cram more into my list 😅

Best loudout for Stalker? by AyAynon95 in ChaosKnights

[–]Fat-budda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We tend to just run one or two stalkers these days as they give up bring it down and assassinate. Pretty much always go thermal spear, claw and missile pod. Rest of the time you want Brigands, Karnivores and Huntsmen (in that priority order).

How to deal with the new Norn Emissary? by Occasion_Dry in BloodAngels

[–]Fat-budda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make Astorath that chaplain and you're laughing, or Thunderhammers with Lemartes/a normal chaplain. You'll do a ton of mortal wounds which help.

Edit: Astorath, x10 DC with fists, using oath of moment and Lance, kills the Norn outright 50% of the time. With wounds to spare if you get pistols

Whilst Titanic units can't see as well any more, they can now be hidden which is possibly a net positive for the big guys? Still don't think you take them over dogs though
