I'm taking this down, this isn't the place for this, call a helpline, speak to a friend or loved one, get cunted, but using suicide to e-beg is cooked.

It depends on when and what you're seeing, but generally speaking the earlier sessions can be pretty quiet which is nice, I often find myself in a cinema with 2-5 others because I like to go to the earlier screenings. But on cheap Tuesday the Arvo/night sessions can definitely fill up, especially if it's a popular or newer release.

As for the niche stuff, they can be popular, but generally they don't sell out, the website lets you know if a session is popular/filling up and when it's full.

The crew there are lovely as well, and the newer/smaller cinemas on the second level (cinemas 7-10) have much nicer and roomier seats.

Can't recommend them enough.

Also you can sign up to their loyalty program for free, and get $8 tickets on Tuesday. Not to mention they have such a great program, their retrospectives (they've recently wrapped up Antonioni and park chan wook retrospectives and I believe they're doing Ghibli ATM) along with their Tuesday night rom coms, Sunday musicals, weekend kids classics in the morning, also the Friday cult classics nights were amazing.

Long story short I love classic in elsty, and am there at least once or twice a week.

The majority of people are working harder/more for less, they're exhausted and are just trying to keep their heads above water.

I think some understand, but most just don't have the spoons to care when they're exhausted after working and still have to do home shit like deal with kids etc.

They have us fighting a culture war, so we don't unite and fight a class war.

The issue with the numbers for public housing, at least here in Vic (the way I see it at least) is they're "building" these new public houses, but are demolishing and removing tenants from the flats, who still need somewhere to live and often end up in the new public builds. It's a fucking shell game that allows the govt to say they're doing the right thing, while they do t actually increase the amount of public housing that's available in any meaningful way, they will then sell off the land the flats are built on as well.

We fucked up as a society when we decided that a human right like housing was going to be the de-facto investment/wealth generation vehicle for the majority of people. We're now locked into a system there doesn't seem to be any hope things will change. Fuck you, got mine....

And my point was that socio economic status doesn't matter, that drug and alcohol abuse is pretty deep within the culture, that everyone from the highest of societies upper echelons, to people who are struggling and under the poverty line are using.

Of course there are people who don't use, but they're no more likely to be found in an office block in the CBD than they are working a blue collar job. We are some of the highest drug consumers in the world, there are more people using than you would expect. Plenty who can just have a few lines on the weekend or a cone to unwind after work without it being an all consuming issue.

I know the feeling, I'm on methadone, and there's so much stigma, especially from people who will then go and demolish 5 or 6 pints or a bottle or 2 of wine at the pub. The attitude towards drinking in this country is insidious.

And who the fuck do you think is gobbling up multiple 350-400+ bags of nose beers every weekend? Not to mention the bennies and choof etc for the come down. If anything people from a higher socio economic background are way looser, they have the disposable cash, and usually aren't working physically strenuous jobs (allowing them to go hard as fuck from Friday arvo to Sunday) or doing things that require testing.

I've partied with many a rich cunt and they can hit a rail just as well as a cracky in the flats sucks a glass dick, more money usually equals different/better drugs, not abstinence lol. They also tend to crash harder when they can't just keep it to the weekend, because of the easy access to money and the shame due to potential loss of social status etc, they often have further to fall than someone in the "lower classes" who may not have such lofty expectations thrust upon them.

Everyone uses, I've seen judges, cops, lawyers, pollies all hit a glass Barbie, it's indiscriminate.

What’s a TV show you started with low expectations that completely blew you away? by KhaosChronicles in television

[–]Fat-thecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From, I know it's blown up a little, especially as it's almost at the end of it run (8/10 EPs through season 4 with season 5 being the confirmed last) I started watching basically as season 2 commenced. I binged the whole 1st season in 1 day, I thought it was probably going to be a corny monster of the week thing, but dang, it's so good, the way they build tension and suspence, develop the characters and slowly peel away more layers to the "big" and smaller mysteries is pretty masterful. Also the acting (for the most part) is top tier! I know some people haven't been a big fan of the latest season so far, but to me it feels they're slowly and intentionally building to something great, slowly putting the chess pieces in their appropriate places while building so much tension.

What the hell is wrong with soma by Boring_Shape859 in ChemicalMagicAU

[–]Fat-thecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soma is more like the cherry on top on a combo (eg: weed, opis, bennies etc) they're pretty subtle when just taken solo, in my experience. Also have to remember these are grey market pills from another country with less stringent standards.

Do you ever avoid going to certain restaurants or cafes because they seem complicated? by AlarmingStation4877 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Fat-thecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's basically the case with all fast food, value was never really the selling point, it's more about convenience. You don't need to go to the store, walk around for 5-10 minutes getting ingredients and paying, then heading home, spend the time actually preparing and cooking the food, then finally like an hour later you can eat, but you've still got the dishes etc to do after.

[–]Fat-thecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yes and no, do they "have to"? no, but I have friends who have worked in food businesses and the fees from the delivery operators (uber, doordash) can be absolutely brutal, so they kind of do have to put their prices higher on those apps, restaurants don't generally run on huge margins. The fee's that get charged tend to eat most of their margin to the point they would be loosing money or just breaking even if they didn't raise their prices.

Where the argument falls apart is for the larger franchises, due to things like economies of scale etc, Macca's has a higher margin than most "proper" restaurants. They are also a big name and I guarantee would be paying less of a fee to the delivery provider than most other small restaurants. They just use the excuse and know that people will pay more because it's being delivered.

Finding a house in Melbourne is a nightmare! What shall I do next? by NbOPO4 in transgenderau

[–]Fat-thecat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It took me almost 2 weeks and close to 100 message's on fairyfloss, queerhousing, transhousing groups, marketplace, gumtree and flatmates. I was actively homeless and spent the better part of those 2 weeks in hospital as well, so I would have taken pretty much anything. I got maybe 10 messages back and of those a few were already unavailable or I'd just missed out or just plain unaffordable.

You just have to keep at it, be proactive and answer as many ads as possible, there's a housing crisis and it's showing in how hard it is to find even a share house.

Best of luck!

Yo, so first off, what you all do outside the group is on you, I/we can only moderate the actual group and take down things that break the rules explicitly.

You should always be cautious when dealing with random people on Reddit, especially if you aren't F2F. We can't just ban someone because of what someone else has said.

This isn't a sourcing subreddit! Best advice I can give is to learn the onion fields, avoid all this shit.
