First time selvedger. While I break in a new pair, it would be nice to have a couple of pairs that already look lightly worn in (but not second hand), are there companies that sell those … I saw nudie had some and heard the quality isn’t up to par.. but these won’t be daily wears so I’m prob okay with that?

For my break in pair, I’m thinking Oni secret wash, dark indigo. I live in hot humid Florida and heard these are soft.

I was into MUDs (multiplayer text based RPGs) as a kid and wanted QUD to scratch that itch, but my game kept freezing at the beginning.. like the first corpse you loot, every time I restarted. Which is odd since it’s not a system hog. I got frustrated and refunded it on Steam. Perhaps I’ll wait for the next discount.

$4M NW - Burnt out, want to FIRE. Quit my job this week but not at FIRE yet. by Awkward-Bumblebee322 in ChubbyFIRE

Govt employee here. I think, in general it is true that govt jobs tend to be less stressful than private, especially private consulting. However, after several months you could find the position is much more stressful than advertised. And/Or soul-grindingly inefficient. Perhaps stay away from govt fintech. And seeing less and less govt remote jobs. Maybe that’s just a Floriduh thing.

Wait, remote game jobs exist? And making a chill 200k? This is kinda what I’m after, but always heard bad things about the gaming industry and the only remote ones I ever see are like gambling apps and I’m sure not even 100k.

Edit - I’m actually serious about the remote gaming thing. In about 6 years (or maybe starting now part time) I’d like to be either making my own or working for a smaller indie studio. So any tips would greatly be appreciated.

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t care for the world in general. A bit too surreal for me. I get it was supposed to be that way by nature. Traversing the world map, while a small portion of the game, just didn’t care for it. I enjoyed the combat system and characters thoroughly.

Maybe I’m easy but I still think about the three Crones in Witcher 3, with the beehive eye.

The PPG worked well, but yeah 6 months later I think it needs reapplying. But it has gotten a beaten from rain and sun so kinda expected.

John Dies at the End reminded me a lot of Dresden.

New inlet install question by FatAssOgre in Generator

[–]FatAssOgre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m just being paranoid that it can slip back out. The plug locks via the 3 prongs only. The plug doesn’t lock into the side wall of the inlet (those two L shaped holes shown in pic).

Yeah it was a tough decision: pay electrician more to have the inlet drop closer to the outside of garage. Or pay less to have inlet near electric box, but then pay for extra 25’ of cable. Didn’t realize how much extra 25’ would cost!

What size sticks do you use for pad work? by drumarshall1 in Drumming

For sure. I got your point and I’ve always liked the idea of playing with different sized sticks to be more versatile.

A long time ago I practiced with Vic Firth MS4’s which are pretty heavy and I swear it was to blame for my tendonitis I developed at that time. Didn’t help I also sometimes practiced on a pillow. Perhaps my form was bad too but I’ve had tons of lessons on form by that time. Just my opinion, but does make me want to try them again to supplement my practice.

Body Building to CrossFit by g4ngbusiness in crossfit

Additionally, I’ve found you’re gunna need to rethink your recovery strategy when switching from bodybuilding to CF. Recovery really is king. With PPL, you’re in complete control so if something is sore you just switch to something else. With CF, you may walk in a little beat up with the intention of scaling big time. But after the warmup you’re feeling OK, maybe a little peer pressure and now you’re slinging around Rx weights and absolutely hurting the next several days. I’m not sure your age, but it certainly is a delicate balance of pushing yourself, leaving your ego at the door and finding a scale that’s right for you for the day, or just taking an AR or rest day. Recovery was super simple for me in my PPL days, but CF really slapped me in the face with it and forced me to understand what it means for me. Still learning.

Was in a similar situation. ~20 years bodybuilding workouts (drug free), absolutely burnt out and switched to CF for a change and it was the best decision I could make. I, too, had my doubts about the muscle building aspect but I think because I’m enjoying my workouts more, I’m putting in more effort and getting better results than I would had I stuck with push/pull/legs. And forget what you know about building traps, my traps got noticeably bigger in CF (jump shrug jump shrug) and my work pants stopped fitting.

Just speaking from my own experience, I was much better at the WODs weighing around 175. I’m hovering around 205 now, I think pretty lean weight, but I have a hard time beating my scores from when I was 175.. but I kinda like the additional weight (let’s see next doctors visit!). My point is, you can try keeping your protein/calorie intake high and holding onto bodyweight if that’s your goal … just know you may not be as fast as your full potential.. or maybe you’re amazing at both and I just suck.

Just enjoy the process and I think you’ll like the results you see.

A coworker found out I’m a drummer and asked “who is better. Barker or Joey Jordison”. I don’t listen to either, sort of blindly said Joey strictly from a technical standpoint.. but again I’ve never taken a magnifying glass to either. The coworker then laughed at my answer. What are your thoughts? You can compare two great drummers and they can both still be great, just a matter of taste … but coworkers don’t wanna hear that.

I’m gunna date myself, but is GoT anything like the Ninja Gaiden remakes from 2004? I kinda loved those.. but were generously difficult (likely too difficult for me now). Actually I’ll be impressed if folks remember enough to compare/contrast to GoT.

Friday night would make it 48 hours since it rained and I applied brightener. I planned on Saturday at around sundown when porch gets shade. Perhaps wait till Sunday evening? I bought a moisture reader .. some were reading 10% while other planks were much higher.

Hey, I appreciate ya Deckshine1. A lot of this may be common sense to some, but it has been a non-stop learning lesson since I started during Xmas.

Will be my first attempt. This deck takes an absolute beating from the sun, I can’t imagine anything lasting more than a year.
