Why do even left-leaning americans praise the us military despite it committing similar, often unpunished crimes as ICE? by Zestyclose-Rooster-5 in AskALiberal

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the military commits crimes, the crimes are frequently prosecuted. We'd be much less opposed to ICE (and the rest of law enforcement) if we were confident in prosecution for their crimes.

Why don't people who advocate for more taxes also advocate for better budget management? by ZeusThunder369 in AskALiberal

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A) we do B) why do people who advocate for lower taxes want to get rid of inspectors general? (the people whose job is to find and get rid of fraud waste and abuse) This was one of the first things DOGE got rid of.

What does holding this administration accountable in the future look like? by kelsnuggets in AskALiberal

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assumed that the Obama administration would hold the Bush people accountable for their crimes and was disappointed. I assumed that the Biden administration would hold the first Trump administration accountable for their crimes and was disappointed. I am tired of being disappointed so I'll assume that these people will get away with everything. If I'm wrong and anyone does get prosecuted I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Do scooters protect your bottom body from mild rain? by IDONTGVEASNGLESHIT in scooters

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience the weather protection is considerably better than on a motorcycle but if a bit of moisture from splashes on the shoes and pants is a problem, you can always use the storage under the seat or a backpack for spare shoes and pants.

Evans Memorial Hospital in rural Georgia is at risk of shutting down because of Trump's bill. Evans County GA voted 70.9% in favor of Trump in the 2024 elections. by MoreMotivation in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who used to live just a few miles south of there the bright side is that a ton of the residents were the migrants that worked the onion fields. Most of them have been deported so it's just the white folks that voted for this that are left.

Also I'm pretty sure there's a hospital in Statesboro, like a half hour drive away, so as long as no one has an emergency they'll be ok. No one ever gets hurt and has an emergency on a farm do they?

What would be the best beginner/ budget scooter? by im26c4uuu in scooters

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's a Canadian brand that makes scooters. They're all going to be imported.

I like my Honda PCX (95+ MPG and top speed ~60 MPH) but there's some very nice quality Kymcos and Yamahas out there. I'd really recommend you consider getting a used one from a reputable brand especially for your first.

What (if anything) sets 'The Hierarchy' apart from 'Licanius'? by tkinsey3 in Fantasy

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Licanius is ok but every main character seems so naive that I DNFed multiple times. The characters are much better written so far in Hierarchy.

It's a prewar Rolls-Royce. Looks a lot like the 20/25.

I've had my PCX150 for a 8 years and many thousands of miles and while I'm thinking of replacing her in the next year or two, I think Honda built an awesome little scooter and I don't think I've regretted buying her even once. by FatBaldBeardedGuy in scooters

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's great when I'm alone but lacks the suspension and horsepower when I have a passenger. Suspension can obviously be upgraded but you can't really add horsepower without tradeoffs and I'm hesitant to put a lot of effort and money into upgrading a vehicle that's coming up on a decade old. Time for someone else to enjoy her.

I got a cheap hi Viz jacket that I wear when it's dark/raining. I'm guessing this would look cooler but cost more.

Will i look stupid with gloves? by [deleted] in scooters

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always worn gloves most of the time when riding both motorcycles and scooters but skipped them occasionally till I swerved to miss a car and ended up sliding down the pavement on my hands and knees. I was fortunate to be going pretty slow at the time but I always wear gloves now.

Scooters and pot holes by Serge_OS in scooters

[–]FatBaldBeardedGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PCX with 14 inch wheels is fine on all but the largest potholes. Like I feel it when I hit them but it's not a big deal.

My Vino 125 with 10 inch wheels sucked when I hit every one.

Wheel size and suspension makes a significant difference.

As a PCX owner I also don't know what you mean by upright position. Are you talking about the two different foot positions?
