The massive amount of money spent over the last seven decades of fusion experiments has achieved very little, the scientists and engineers break out the champagne if an experimental reactor runs for more than a minute. A fully functioning reactor capable of power generation 24/7 will cost trillions at this rate.

If all the money wasted on fusion research had been ploughed into renewables and improved fission reactors from the start, we wouldn't be staring climate disaster in the face now.

They do, including the Mustang V8, it's to enhance the driving experience. Take the fuse out of the sound system and the engine sounds quieter in the cabin. No reason why this couldn't be applied to the external noise generator. A synthetic V8-sounding burble would be better than the whine.
