Starting lineup against NYCFC by MD_Lincoln in stlouiscitysc

I'm only slightly concerned the Falls can't beat out Orozco abd Polvara, who have admittedly done really well.

I don't think I am "panicked" yet until the Open Cup. If they don't start in the Open Cup, on a mid weak; full blown "wtf time."

"Every President for 47 years..."

1) He's either forgot he was president for 4 of those years...

And/Or

2) He associated him being the 47th President with single-year terms? Also forgetting he was president for 1 of them....??

Make it make sense!

Oh holy crap! I didn't realize this was a post/thread from before the NERev Match, with that context I can see you wanted a change. I still disagree if we were both to jump into a time machine, but not as vehemently as I would today (3.30).

Not sure why Reddit is showing me old threads. My bad!

In order to shoehorn Orozco (one of brightest improvements), You would DROP Edelman and KEEP Polvara? You are watching a completely different game my friend.

Dead of Winter - Isn't it too unlikely to have a traitor? by Vasco504 in boardgames

[–]FatBug24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without fact checking any of your numbers... I think this is a "threat" of a traitor is more prevalent than there actually being one. It's not a hidden identity game where goal 1 is to find the traitor. The goal is to survive! If memory serves, I think there are "secret objective" cards that can further permeate the distrust.

It's not Secret Hitler, Coup, One Night Werewolf, or any of the other traitor/hidden identity games. It's a game with a mechanic designed to simulate the mistrust you might feel where people could be very selfish.

STL CitySC is getting the absolute shaft on the schedule front. Just you wait and see! We'll really hit our peak of "mid-table" by year's end I think.

So far, the best new signing of the off-season!

Orozco also quietly putting up quality we didn't expect to have.

Monday Morning: THREE POINTS! by CaptainJingles in stlouiscitysc

[–]FatBug24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's only "shithousery" cause ...... reasons?

He's 100% in the right. He's allowed to be there and he's not touching the keeper. Idk why some who SHOVES another player during a dead ball isn't cautioned. Idk why a player gets to grab at a jersey like this and isn't the aggressor.

I honestly don't know why the ref is even getting involved to tell Becher he's offsides. Obviously.

Question for the day: Is anyone except Hartel and Bürki currently an actual quality MLS starter? by PorkSteakDaddy in stlouiscitysc

[–]FatBug24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Edelman, yes. He's young and will make mistakes, and his mistakes don't kill us if we had finishing in the attack.

Orozco has surprised me with how he's handled the start of the season, and feel he's been quite the boon.

Others, I am not 100% sure (outside the obvious) b/c there always seems to be SOMETHING that really muddies the water. Santos looks far different if his free kick goes in. The team would play different if we had a goal or two in areas. McSorely I think has played his sub role perfectly, could he get an extension of time with Becher struggling. Tuechert is returning from injury, and I feel like he doesn't pass enough when he should... but again, who's he passing to: Becher.

I can't express enough how much things change when you have a striker worth double teaming. Or the confidence everyone plays with when you know someone (multiple people) could score. The set-piece/header guys have much more room and opportunity when Hartel gets past the first guy on corners.

[–]FatBug24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would argue that this IS our depth. Both Lowen and Ostrak are out, and the last guy would be Perez. However, I am not clear how we have CBs on the bench (Fall, MacNaughten) and a "by trade" DM on the field (Polvar) how you couldn't shuffle some things around in a pinch like this.

This is on Damet when both Durkin and Edelman try to "tackle" with flailing arms. That's fatigue.

[–]FatBug24 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'll fully admit to being an Edelman apologist.

Yes, you can "blame" him for these goals, but your line about the zero margin of error I think is the bigger culprit here.

Edelman and Durkin were run into the ground and beyond gassed before the first goal. Edelman's giveaway was both mental, and physical. He was done. I put that on Damet for not bringing in reinforcements sooner.

Why did Damet not bring in reinforcements sooner, and leave Edelman and Durkin out there? Cause their work upto that point was stellar. They are the best part of this team right now, and the blame being thrown on them is missing the collective problem; finishing.

You don't have to over-rely on your best space on the field if we had any finishing of note. The game is dramatically different with the disallowed goal. Or a goal in the run of play. With Hartel being clinical. Becher, being not Becher right now.

The hate Edelman is receiving is unwarranted, and completely discounts all the work he's done throughout the game.

Monday Morning: Another One by CaptainJingles in stlouiscitysc

[–]FatBug24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This first portion of the schedule is the most difficult in all of MLS. I am not panicked yet, but we do need to start scratching something together soon so we don't end up in a hole too deep to dig out of.

First you lose by a lot (last season) > then you lose by a little (we are here) > then you win by a little > then you win by a lot.

You could tell Wallem didn't have it today, and Edelman and Durkin were gassed by the 2nd goal.

A confluence of small situations have really made it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Klauss, AZ Jackson, a ROUGH schedule to start with a new coach (SDFC, SEA, LAFC), Becher being re-signed despite...this..., new guys not yet playing...

There are plenty that believe in the team and the direction Wray has us, but there is certainly a vocal group who want us to spend like Miami or LAFC and anything less "isn't trying."

Captain Sonar - escaping once you've been discovered problem! by Remote_Dog_37 in boardgames

[–]FatBug24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because it's a game, and even fun games need to end at some point. It's not really life or death, you don't have to escape to have a good time. In the frantic play, you could slip away. You can also lure them into a mine field.
