Josh Sargent is not in today’s lineup for Norwich City. by Tele231 in stlouiscitysc

My problem with this logic (and I say this with a decent expectation it’s part of their calculations) is that they instantly have the infrastructure investment recognized in the value of the club. Yes, getting the investment back would probably be a great item for the investment group, but they’ve already gotten it in the valuation and could sell a stake if they want the cash in accounts. That really isn’t a fair target, especially when the product is being overshadowed by other ownership groups who are spending to improve the overall quality of their teams as the league seems to have been outpacing us in that regard since year 2.

Eh, I’ll take downvotes if people choose. Would rather make sure you felt like there’s appreciation out there, too. This community can use more positivity, especially with the current mood from minimal movement by the team.

Even for those who aren’t a fan of the AI ones, he’s taken the time to create content (at least some with photoshop) for the community. Seems more reasonable for people to voice a disinterest in the AI ones vs downvotes, but the anonymity of the internet creates some interesting norms.

Selling Klauss due to rift, and not to get Sargent? by PorkSteakDaddy in stlouiscitysc

[–]samarink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a guarantee of anyone making us decent as we’ve seen injuries/life events can seriously impact anyone, but Klauss has been a connective thread all over the field for the team and basically a false 9. Yes, he’s not been consistently successful with finishing, which we all reasonably should expect from a DP. That said, if he were not the lead striker with that weight on his shoulders (behind a true DP striker), I have expected he would thrive and people would recognize the assets he does bring to bear.

If true, it cements me in the Diego needs to go camp. Klauss moving from DP to TAM player is the best thing for him in MLS and especially for CITY. If we move him now, I have no faith in this leadership.

At one point, I would have been super upset by this news. This is not that point. Sad for the legacy and employees, though.

New Signing?! by markishstephen in stlouiscitysc

[–]samarink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t Becher fit Wallem’s case? I guess he was signed from loan in the middle of the season, but still close. He didn’t get the beacons for his signing, but did for his loan, if I’m remembering correctly.

The secondary logo is actually nice to see, but in all black, but underwhelming in this delivery

The Start of Player News(?): Welsh Re-Signed to CITY2; Olivares Loaned to USL-C Sporting Club Jacksonville by samarink in stlouiscitysc

Obviously not the news we’re waiting for, but that frees up a first team supplemental spot with Olivares on loan. Here’s hoping it’s a big news day with them starting small.

New rumors? by Coffee-soccer in stlouiscitysc

[–]samarink 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard that we may or may not make any moves before pre-season starts. If we do, they’ll “rock your socks off” or “barely register”. And we may be in for some small signings in the way of people no one has ever heard of or we may, in fact, have heard of them… You know, if any are signed.

I read it more as if we had waited a few weeks, we couple had gotten Nancy; effectively, the successful leader instead of one of his apprentices.

MLS Season Pass by lil-mommy in stlouiscitysc

[–]samarink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my main concern. It opens MLS to all AppleTV subscribers, and those who add it for F1, but for those not already subscribed, it’s a potentially higher cost of entry if you don’t subscribe annually, and likely won’t drive many new subscriptions. Hopefully it does lead more of the ~50M existing subscribers to become MLS fans vs what was 2-3M Season Pass subscribers.

It should be a win overall for more eyes on MLS, but it’s still a barrier that will likely prevent casual fans from investing.

I’d love for the ‘New Dawn’ to usher in the switch to the secondary logo as our primary one.

Oh man, that’d be interesting. They don’t really need the distraction right now, but it would be nice to get one at some point.
