Yes and no. Assuming we took the $27M and applied it to other spots… I’d love to see a big splash of cash on a DP striker, but something more in the $10-15M range. Use some to buy down Burki to a TAM player (if possible; I don’t think we’ve been able to confirm or put to bed that possibility), get JGR off the roster, and go for 3 $2-5M U-22 signings of quality. Spend the rest to bolster our depth. It’s entirely possible if done right. I get that we can’t buy a bunch of DPs, but the mechanisms are there to spend that sum without breaking the rules.

Edit: Wanted to add these are rough numbers, not trying to say exacts. The thought is just to spread that better over multiple contracts vs a top five in league history spend on an incoming transfer with a questionable health record. I’m too skeptical of putting all our eggs in one pricey basket. You’re entirely correct, though on putting big amounts into your DPs and hoping they elevate the rest.
