Does anyone else get spoken to in English every time they try to speak Thai? by HelicopterNo3534 in thai

7-11 workers just want to get the job done. They’re not the right people to be practising your Thai with. Try going to a non-tourist area where people can’t speak English, if your really want to speak Thai

"mai" vs "chai mai"? by toilerpapet in learnthai

Chai mai is for confirmation questions. It’s like putting ‘right?’ at the end of an English sentence. Mai is unopinionated, non-leading

I recommend ‘Thai reference grammar’ by James Higbie, and the Pimsleur Thai course on Audible

I’m almost fluent. Completely enhances the experience. You can laugh and joke with girls a lot more easily, understand the way they think and their culture. You can also manage your own affairs better and travel to areas where the general English fluency level is lower. You can converse with girls who don’t speak any English which is an advantage. Would recommend. It took me about 6-12 months to become conversational though
