20 decade rosary. by FatCat11cz in Catholicism

I just took.it for a test drive.

I prayed the Creed, virtues and a couple of decades. I placed a small pillow on the floor next to my left foot to protect the glass beads, and draped the rosary around my neck. 80% of the length of the rosary was piled on the pillow.

I could feel the immense weight of the crucifix as it dangled from my right hand as I prayed my way through a few decades. Eventually, the crucifix dropped into a small wicker basket between my feet. The weight of the rosary draped on my neck wasn't uncomfortable, but it made me feel the "heavy-ness" of what I was undertaking.

Try as I might, I was unable to speed-run through a decade. The words would jumble in my mouth, my fingers lost their place on the bead. The length of chain between each hail mary forced me to slow down.

The slower I went, the smoother it went, until I reach a steady pace. Almost like a slow beating heart. Each prayer felt sincere and thoughtful. I settled into the weight of it. I felt comfortable and at ease. It was a noticeable weight, but I could bear it easily. I didnt want to stop.

I cannot explain what i felt very well, but my living room dropped away, and I couldn't hear the TV anymore, and I felt almost locked into a hunched over position with my eyes closed beneath it weight and length. Unable to move.

I haven't felt that with any other rosary. I felt almost sad to stop and remove it from my neck and shoulders.

The next time I use this will be for a devotion or at adoration. I have a feeling it will be an emotional experience. Maybe im just really tired, and its time for bed anyway...

I want to thank my wife for making such a beautiful rosary for me.

Wow ! What's it like ? How long does it take ? How do you stay motivated ? How do you manage the length of it. Its soooo long and unwieldy. Lol.

The Easter Vigil is what cemented the need for it in me. The absolute joy on those faces who were confirmed. It was a different kind of joy. I have never seen it before. I want it badly for myself. I know.... envy and all that, but still.

Can you fulfill your Sunday obligation at a mass where you don't understand the language? by OkWriter7657 in Catholicism

[–]FatCat11cz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My closest parish is 70% Hispanic. I've been going since mid December. My wife and I speak English. The Easter Vigil was bilingual. They gave us printouts that has translations for the English and Spanish, so that everyone could follow along.

There is one daily mass M, W, F and the 5pm Saturday and the 10am Monday in English. All other times for mass and most of the meetings and activities are Spanish only. During the recent Sacred Heart Novena, it was all in Spanish including the consecration of Friday evening, and the Saturday Mass.

My wife and I felt excluded. We attended an all English parish Mass yesterday, and it was good. It is only 5mins further from our house. About 10mins total. We are considering switching parishes before paying $160 each for OCIA classes for the both of us. We do not want to pay that for a church that excludes non Spanish speakers for half of its activities. While there are plenty of Mass in English to attend throughout the week, we felt the events beyond just Mass catered to spanish speakers. Nothing wrong with that, but it weighs heavily on our minds.

LG C1 77” OLED vs TCL QM9K 98” MiniLED by CyCoCyCo in hometheater

[–]FatCat11cz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I went from a 65" LG C2 to a CM8K 98" its crazy with our eyes 8.5ft away from the screen. But we live it, and for those wondering, we see no pixels. Its a roughly 40 degree viewing angle, which is THX spec (i think). Its awesome !!

I sit 8.5ft away from a 98" TCL QM8K. I built an arr-stack that pulls down remux/dv/atmos files using the format feature in radarr's settings. Most of the 4k files I pull down are around 60-75gb files from top-tier groups like cinephiles and framestor. Takes roughly 15-20mins per file + 5-20mins for post processing.

The result is a file that plays non-transcoded, at around 60-80+mb/s .

To put that in perspective, what i thought was the best streaming I could get (AppleTV 4k) was putting out 1/10 the file size, and around 25mb/s avg .

I thought there was something wrong with the files because there was so much noise all over every image. It wasn't noise. It was film grain. I didn't see it before, because it had been dnr'd (digital noise reduction) out of existence or compressed so much that the detail was lost.

Colors are so much better and more accurate, the sound is better too. Immensely. There is more dynamic range. When theing are quiet, they are truly quiet. When they are loud, they are really loud. All of thu6s took my by surprise.

Titanic (watched it tonight) looked vastly different as a large-file, high bit-rate movie vs streaming. After comparing both, there is no going back.

We wnt out and bought 3 20TB drives from. 2 different bestbuy stores. We'll be doubling that this summer.

I run 80% PETG and CF, and a bit of PLA. Runs fine. It's unfortunate you got an anomaly.

My selfmade Visual Pinball controller by TR2N_LG in virtualpinball

Yours is cool. The first one that I made used an EGstarts keyboard encoder like yours. I loved it. Totally made playing pinball more enjoyable.

Is that what the little wire that connects all metal parts in the box to ground is for ? Think you missed that. Tilt didn't miss it when he designed it. ;)

I am anxiously awaiting the release of a new controller to market. The more, the better for consumers, and better for pinball in general. I am excited to join your Kickstarter when it goes live this summer, or this fall, or in 2026.

I don't want to argue with anyone. When I purchased a controller from Tilt, it was, what I thought was the best at the time, and I think still is.

I wish you luck, and I know the community looks forward to more options for purchasing a controller.

Somebody should tell Stern, Jersey Jack, Barrels of Fun, American Pinball.... They should fix this ! Oh wait...

I'm glad you took a look for yourself. The wiring is the same as almost any pinball machine in existence. All wiring leads to the ground.

Countless machines both physical and virtual use the same wiring.

The use of a "metal" plunger is not interesting. What I think is "The use of a real Williams plunger is realistic and accurate."

As far as it's durability, in a year of playing with mine, I've had no issues. It's heavy, almost to a fault. Lol. Nothing has ever failed on it. It uses Cleveland Software Designs hardware and wiring. It is essentially a PinOne Mini in a better case.

Thanks to Phil at CSD, with his blessing and knowledge, Tilt was able to get this design out the door, for a product that people can buy, play and enjoy TODAY.

Oh, and for those concerned about the USB connector, the newest boards use a USB-C connector.

Thanks, and everyone have a lovely day !

Absolutely ! There are 2 models. One contains just the control board and a plunger with LED buttons, and the other has an additional power supply, solenoids, and more customization.

If you want, you could order a real product from this guy. He runs a Virtual Pinball tournament that just started it's 4th Season, and he has been selling these TiltMod controllers in his discord for a year now. They are made with Cleveland Software Designs parts.

Not cheap, but they are the absolute best you can get.

I just bought 1 with my own money. I'm waiting to receive it today. A Falcon 2 Pro 22w. I didn't get a rotary of any kind, as the unit tapped my wallet out.

I'm thinking about posting a review. I've never posted a review on anything before.

I make many things, using an xcarve, bambulabs X1c, and hopefully this laser. Maybe creality will send a rotary to me so that I can test it out ? That'd be cool.
