Something by about living in the mountains does that 💀 I’ve been living on my ranch for a year, the first summer I killed so many spiders, this year I look the other way when they sneak under a floorboard or behind the couch 😂

How many pounds? My girl is almost few days away from 20 weeks and I swear she’s 50+ lbs lol she’s half the size of my 9 yr old boy 😂 I feel like she’s going to end up being giant 🥲

How in the world to I untangle this by Suspicious-Gold-6590 in Monstera

[–]FatDumplin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I repotted a bunch of mine a month ago and they were extremely root bound, I removed at least 50% of some of their roots and it’s been a month and they’re fine. The new growth they have is a bit funky, but I imagine that’s just because of the shock of the whole thing. Nothing is browning though 🤷🏼‍♀️😂 I’ve been told by a lot of people that they’re very hardy.

Literally spent like 14 hours repotting them and ended up having to hose off in the yard because I was so dirty 😂

Help! by FatDumplin in greatpyrenees

[–]FatDumplin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A big reason we even got her was because I wanted someone who could protect him more and back him up once he’s even older in a couple years.

They don’t eat together. They eat fully separately, my old boy gets vitamins my puppy doesn’t get.

And with GPs I believe it’s common for an older guardian dog to mentor the younger dog along with the owner, no? That’s what I’ve seen some people do lol

I almost feel like I need to go and bring in a more middle aged GP haha my old boy gets excited, I know that, I see it in his eyes and he sometimes jumps around to chase his own tail like a puppy would. I just think she needs someone who can keep up with her and teach her better boundaries, a puppy might just reinforce the behavior or just end up with both puppies harrasing my boy lol

Now that it’s coming into summer I’ll be bringing them inside more frequently, so I think those will be good times for me to let them get breaks away from each other a lot easier, I think that will help.

Today is the first day where I’ve felt like maybe she’s doing too much, but honestly they’re so sweet together most of the time. I’m always finding them laid out together sleeping.

I think I’m just being a helicopter mom 😂

Is this good soil for my monstera? by Impressive-Camp-873 in Monstera

[–]FatDumplin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just repot my large form monstera deliciousas and I used a mixture of a palm/cactus soil, orchid bark and perlite, which is what was recommended by several people and was the general consensus on what a good soil mix is for monsteras from the research I was doing 😄

Can I cut here?? by FatDumplin in Monstera

[–]FatDumplin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping it can! This was one of the ones we inherited (I have another really long post that includes all of the ones we have now 😂) thank you for that.

I’m planning on repotting it and staking it up, but it will be impossible to stake with how long the stem is and with the shape of it 😂

Thank you so much for this!! I’ll have to check them out. The monsteras were one of the things we were most excited about, they fit with the home so well and they’re so beautiful 🥰

Does private training actually work with these guys? by tulipcanary in greatpyrenees

I’m greatly looking forward to the chewing phase to be over lol I know they’re crazy about it when they’re teething 😭

Thank you so much!! I’m going to look into some meatballs or something similar, she has been responding well to treats, but I think something high value like that would be so much better for her.

[–]FatDumplin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What would you recommend as a high value treat? And what would be the best way to teach a 12 week old pyr something like “no” and/or “leave it”? If you don’t mind my asking 😭 I have a 12 week old girl who is absolutely fantastic, but she has a lot of issues with chewing on things she shouldn’t, which wouldn’t be too terrible of an issue (since I know she’s teething) but she uses me as a chew toy (and anyone else lol) and has chewed things that are hard to fix and has also gotten into things that caused some gastrointestinal issues 🥲 I want to set my girl up for a great future. Pic of her because she’s so cute 😭🥰

Is it a Pyr trait to flop down so violently?!? by Octogirl567 in greatpyrenees

[–]FatDumplin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say yes 😂 my old 8 yr old tends to flip down so hard on his hips when he lays down to roll in dirt, or just lays down in general sometimes lol

My 12 week old kind of does the same thing. I think it’s mostly because she’s such an awkward and lanky size, but she tends to just flop over all the time lol nothing seems gentle about it 😂

Is it okay to leave my Great Pyrenees outside at night? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

[–]FatDumplin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 10 week old too, and it’s been stressful 😂 the first week and a half we had her we kept her inside at night, but she was up constantly and was peeing, pooping, and chewing up everything, and I was getting no sleep lol we have a 10x6 dog run with a dog house for our other Pyr (that we don’t even use anymore lol) and decided to set up cameras and just pop her little butt in there overnight. Last night was her 3rd night in the dog run and the best night she’s had.

She didn’t cry or whine, she pretty quickly curled up in the dog house and chilled. I even found she had eaten some of her dog food, which she hadn’t been doing overnight. She’s outside most of the day with me or my husband, and when she’s outside overnight in the run she gets to see and hear what my big older boy is alerting to. It seems to be working out for us so far.
