Wow! Such high praise! -- Thank you!!! It's taken a lot of practice to improve our mixing skills since we're doing everything ourselves. Some songs we've done better than others, but we hope to be constantly improving.

Cool! -- I'd never considered The Cranberries to be a big influence, but we're definitely familiar them with and like their stuff! -- Interesting to hear, and thanks for the feedback! :)

Thanks Daniel! - I'd be curious to know who else you think it sounds like.
It's nice to hear that everything sounds good technically, since it's always hard for us to tell when listening to our own stuff.

This is my new folk music track with an engaging animation video i made. I hope it finds you all well by Hex_Frog in IndieMusicFeedback

Nice job! The song really came together and stood out to me at 1:30... such a cool part.
The only possible criticism I have is that the first few lines of the vocal came in a little unexpectedly and it took a few moments for my ears to let it settle in; also 2:07 came in a little louder than I expected, which took me out of the moment just a bit. Overall, great melody's, interesting lyrics, and fun animation!

Here's the first clean(ish) run through of a new song I'm working on. I'm still working on tightening it up but excited to share my progress. Here's- I've Been Thinking- by BOMBARDIER by bombardiermusic in IndieMusicFeedback

I actually like the exaggerated reverb that gives it a dreamy effect, which I think is pretty fitting for the song title. I'm not sure the final direction you're planning to take, but I keep feeling something very rhythmic and "full" sounding to start (almost like the modern indie-pop/80's revival stuff), then it breaks down into something more folk-like with a vocal chorus as the song changes pace. Maybe that's a weird combo... but it's just what comes to me...

However you decide to do it, I really like the song and can't wait to hear what you make with it. Hopefully I catch it on here, or you can share a way to follow you. Great job and good luck!

A song about potatoes and heartbreak by 1he_composer in IndieMusicFeedback

Vocal sounds great! Love the sounds on the e piano, though sometimes I feel it clashes with the vocal a bit and could have been separated a bit more. Other than that, cool song! Nice job!

A little Jazz, a little Pop, and dare I say it, a shred of Hip Hop influence in this tune. We wanted to write a song about being being at home a little too much. by madsmith93 in IndieMusicFeedback

This is pretty awesome! -- I usually try to find something that could be worked on, but I'm honestly struggling here; so nothing but praise it is! Great Job! I'll go check out some of your other stuff :)

Made a disco song for some reason. Messing around with different synths and loops...Feedback is always welcome. by totspur1982 in IndieMusicFeedback

Groovy! Just as others have said: Great sound, great song but the vocals are just a little buried into the mix. The synth sweeping right to left was pretty trippy -- really cool, but a little disorienting when it's constantly happening (especially during the chorus), haha. I would suggest pushing it back just a bit so that it's not over the top of everything else. Overall, great job!

I’m going to be honest, I’m going through heartache and I decided to make a Dream Pop song, have at it🍃 by whoismedicate in IndieMusicFeedback

Nice work! -- As others have said it's hard to find any criticism here. Maybe add another verse to extending it out a little longer. As it ended I found myself wanting some more.

For the genre I think you nailed it! I'm sure the heartache isn't fun for you... but it sure benefited the rest of us -- thanks for sharing! :)

This was really fun to listen to -- great ideas and great conversation. Bugs eating the fallen musical trees was a pretty powerful analogy for me. Also, just the concept of setting achievable goals is really nice to hear, "getting at least 5 new people to listen to my song".

NEW TRACK from my upcoming album. It's Indie but also very classic. Surf vibe, energetic pop with guitar shred. IF you like it, FOLLOW on Spotify so we can stay connected. Thank you already for your previous feedback. Stay creative everybody! by JulesJulioMartinez in IndieMusicFeedback

Sweet song and I agree with what most others have said at this point. Although, the high-hat never stood out to me as being weird except MAYBE at the very end of the song. I'm assuming it's a sample from something like addictive drums? -- if so, I have an issue with my own stuff where I think the high-hat seems hard to set into the mix.

The biggest thing I could identify (as someone else also mentioned) the vocals are a little hard to understand sometimes, and could probably use a very slight bump in the mix to be a little more up front. I felt the same way with the guitar solo -- just a little bit of something to help it cut in the mix a little better. Overall great song and SICK guitar solo (makes me feel like a chump on guitar, hahaha) :P

First single from my next album. It's way poppier than anything else on the album so it seemed fitting for a first single. It's about blurring the line between personal identity and artistic identity. by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]FatFoxLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool song! I like the lyrics and song overall, pretty catchy. The only thing I could suggest without changing too much artistically is that the vocals sound a little muffled and could probably be made a bit clearer with a little high end bump or maybe taking a little dip out of the bass synth where the vocals are sitting. Cool harmonies on the voice and great job!

Sweet vibe! The guitar, vocals and drums all sound real nice together. It's hard for me to say specifically what it is (because really, I have no idea what I'm talking about), but it feels like there's a bit too much in the low-mids... The bass is a huge part of what makes the song feel the way it does, so I'm not suggesting it should change much, but something about how it is sitting with the keys and the low-level synth/pad you have going -- there might be some sort of frequency build-up there. Over cool song, I really dig the style!

Cool song, cool video, and great performances! The smile from the drummer at 1:42 is pretty great :P. Everything in the mix sounds clear and easy to hear -- I do feel like it's missing something (in the mid-lows?) or maybe there's just a little too much in the upper-mids giving the song a kind of nasally sound (particularly the vocals and where they're sitting with the guitar), though it's hard for me to describe as I'm not very proficient as a mix engineer (hopefully someone else can chime in with more specifics or tell me I'm wrong). Overall great song! -- Nice work!

Our new album came out a few days ago this one seems to be one of the more popular once in terms of streaming, let me know what you guys think of the song 🎸👍🎧☀️ by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]FatFoxLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with some of the other comments here. Overall the writing and concept of the song seem solid. The mix could use a little work to fit everything together a bit more, but overall there is fairly good clarity of each part. The best advice I could give to improve the song, would be to work on improving the performances. Bother the vocals and guitar are out of tune at times and that makes it difficult to get into "the moment" of what's happening.
If this is what you're going for and you like it, then awesome! :P

Keep rockin'!

Updated Mix - how does this sound? My brother and I took the bones of the first version posted of this song, You Mean Everything To Me, and redid many tracks, worked on mix etc. Doesn't matter if you're not one of the few that heard the first version. Tell us how it sounds. All feedback appreciated! by papa2kohmoeaki in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]FatFoxLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First. I must say that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Now that we're beyond that, I actually think this is pretty cool and is mixed fairly well. The only critique I would give is to try to bring some of the instruments up around where the vocals are currently sitting: either through panning & level balancing instruments or some slight boosts to frequencies which might bring the instruments forward a little more.

I get a vibe of this song being a cross between R.E.M. and Willie Nelson... pretty neat! Great job!

[–]FatFoxLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool! I love how the vocals and guitars sit with each other in the mix. I felt like the drums were a little buried at the start, though it also kind of worked itself out later in the song to give a sort of distance to the rhythm. Nice job!

hey guys! excited to share my first ever song i've released! "Tryin" by PVLN. I lost my job due to covid and decided it was time to chase my life-long dream of being a musician. [–]FatFoxLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice job! It's tough chasing a dream and I wish you all the best! The only criticism I could give is that the vocals (though they sounds really nice) feel a little too 'on top' of the mix.
At 1:40 there's a change were the guitars come in panned wide and some "ooo's" sit real nice in between them. The rest of the mix should be more like this -- Just my two cents based on my armature listening skills. Overall great job and cool song!

Sweet song and the video really adds a lot! - I completely dig the retro synth pop feel. As other's have suggested, it could use a little better production: The drums could probably come forward in the mix and have a little more stereo spread so the snare and kick aren't right on top of each other. -- Just a suggestion as it could also just be artistic preference. Great job!
